Recently some people have compared certain games to board games. Being both an avid board gamer (with 70+ board/card/rpg games as well as a www.boardgamegeek.com community member), and a video gamer, I'd like to see a list of games that people consider to be in this most definitely small and unique category.

Some I know I've seen labeled as such are Imperialism and Chaos Overlords. While I've played Imperialism, I'm not privy to Chaos Overlords yet. It looks neat, but after reading it's comparison to a board game my interest has gone up.

What other games on GOG, or not but possibly in the future on GOG, would you put in this category?

In a sense I would suppose a number of turn-based strategy games or any game with a lot of grids could be like this.

If anyones familiar with eurogames, tile based games, or civilization builder games, that's sort of what I'm thinking of.

A lot of Paradox's strategy titles would probably fall into this category. Certainly Hearts of Iron.

Oh, and if you've never played Chaos:

Armageddon Empires got great reviews several years back: http://www.crypticcomet.com/games/AE/armageddon_empires.html

There is a demo on the site if you'd like to try it out.

That looks pretty neat! Can't say I've ever played a ZX Spectrum game before.

I'll have to check this out as well.

I suppose Battle Chess and Combat Chess would be considered straight out board games on GOG.

Blood Bowl, hopefully that will be on gog at some point in the future.
The most obvious ones that spring to mind are Chaos Overlords and all of Cryptic Comet's games (Armageddon Empires is like a cross between a CCG and a strategy boardgame, while Solium Infernum is heavily reminiscent of one of my favourite boardgames, The Hellgame. I haven't played Six Gun Saga yet but expect it's pretty similar. His upcoming game, The Occult Chronicles, looks like a roguelike inspired by the boardgame Betrayal at House on the Hill.)

Also, FTL is heavily inspired by the boardgame Battlestations, and although it doesn't feel quite as boardgamey as the others, there are still enough similar elements to be worth checking out.
