I'm trying to run some older games on a VirtualBox XP machine, but the sound is crackling unbearably. I don't have any experience with VM's. Should I allocate it more CPU or something? DXDiag (in the VM) doesn't show up any problems.

Cheers!

That could be a driver issue. Maybe you would need to find older audio drivers for your sound card that are compatible with XP. Not sure though.
I've ascertained that the issue is with the prerendered cutscenes. The game runs fine, but the videos stutter. I guess I should install drivers somehow.
Have you tried lowering the sound accelleration in dxdiag?
