I want to buy some games (Nox, Baldur's gate, etc) and I was wondering if GOG provides with support for Windows7/Debian and if provides windows mode support?

The thing I mind the most right now is window mode, because with screen resolutions today, most games end up looking weird and stuff, and I dont want to end up playing something that looks way too deformed.

So... is anybody aware of any of this things? I *REALLY* want to finally play Nox.
Windowed mode depends on the game itself. Baldur's Gate 2 supports it, but I'm pretty sure Nox doesn't. Nox also does not support widescreen, as far as I know. You should however be able to configure your monitor or GPU to respect the game's aspect ratio so it doesn't look deformed.

For Win7 compatibility, see "Compatible with" info on the game's page. I just checked Nox and BG and they're both listed as Win7 compatible.

GOG does not officially support Linux.

Edit: Ugh why did my 1st edit disappear during my second edit, anyway : There was a GOG mix that listed games that worked on Linux, but I can't seem to access it right now, gives me a 404 error. The threads linked by Tarang in the post below this one should help though.

A few threads that I can remember:

The games are the games, what they support the GOG versions support. These are not remakes, just re-releases.

The extent to which the games are changes is to make some minor compatibility tweaks.
Most of the dosbox games should run on Linux without too much trouble, the main sticking point is getting the installer unpacked in the first place. After that you can use the provided configuration file with dosbox, should work in pretty much all cases.

Windows games here are going to be a lot more hit or miss, but thing is to look around and see if anybody has managed to get that particular game working.

Oh, ok. I thought that, in light of you actually tweaking games to provide certain compatibility tweaks, would be able to provide something like a very simple wrapper for applications to run in window mode.

Also, KingOfDust, I saw that mix too, but it gives me a 404 error. Like it is indexed, but not available.

Well you might be able to use something like dxwnd.exe to make them run in a window but there's no guarantee it'll work with a given game.

If the primary reason you want a windowed mode is so the games don't get stretched, you could look into your graphics card options: You can tell it to scale while maintaining aspect ratio which would prevent the games from being distorted, alternatively there may be an option to have the games run at their native resolution with black borders.
I can attest to NoX working wonderfully under Wine.

Archlinux x86_64
Wine 1.3.36

winehq NoX 1.2

GoG's Baldur's Gate consequently also runs out-of-the-box under Wine too. Installing the mods however, can get a tad cerebral.
