Hello everyone!
I just wanted to ask if gog.com is planning to add all the old Warhammer Games like

- Warhammer Fantasy - Shadow of the horned rat
- Warhammer Fantasy - Dark Omen
- Warhammer 40K- Gates of Chaos
- Warhammer 40K - Rites of War
- Space Hulk

Exept both of the "of"-40K games every title was released on a few platforms like PS1, 3DO or Windows. Wich is very bad becaus i know the games are very good!
But i want them soo badly in a proper version for Dosbox, because a Win 7 Version of these games would make me VERY happy :)

Is it because of the Warhammer-Licence from Relic or something?

Please enlight me!

In the big EA Release video, they showed some guys playing the Space Hulk boardgame.
This gave me hope that Space hulk, at least would be released (it was an EA game).
Unfortunately, it hasn't happened yet.
It has been suggested that there issues with the GW licence.

I still have hope, but it is a sputtering glimmer now....
I see, thanks for the info!
Which EA video you mean?

Btw i forgot to mention the first "Space Hulk" game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=WwOBxoaiJfU#t=1798s (notice the wonderful intro)

THQ published all of the newer WH 40K games, but we all know that THQ is about to die..the THQ JAPAN HQ was closed a few days ago. Maybe that is a glimmering hope to get a new "gambling for licences" and maybe some day we see all these games here :(

There was a video presentation here when it was announced that EA was joining GOG.
I can't find it at the mo, it was about 8 or 9 months ago.....
The problem with Warhammer games is that they need permission from Games Workshop and those guys don't like to share.

One of the most protective IP holders I have ever seen.
"the don't like to share" hits the point :)
At least GW would get MONEY from these games. And we all know GW loves makin' money. So they would get a fine deal hehe.
I know that there's a double pack with Gates of Chaos and Rites of War available (even on amazon lol), but i think to get the games running would be a pain in the a**. :(

look closely at the figures.
But it's not Space Hulk Board Game - they just use figures from it.
Warhammer games would be awesome here...

Man,,,THQ really needs to get on Board...
Well the good news is that THQ doesn't have exclusive rights to all things Warhammer. So I don't know. Maybe it's possible to get Space Hulk here. Games Workshop are very backward when it comes to computer games though. Getting them interested in releasing it here would be quite the effort.

GW loves to fumble around, botch their attempts to make money, open up even more stores that don't sell enough minis and then get rid of their only profitable part because they want to focus more on their core games.
(Basically what was happening around the time they got rid of black industries...) It is a miracle that GW actually still exists, considering how much time they have spent in the reds during the last few years. They have made more than a few rather stupid decisions which has alienated a lot of their older fans (many have jumped ship to games like Warmachine, and many have just left the hobby altogether). I'm not saying that GW is a big evil company, just that the people running it are not the most business savvy people in the world.

GW have an exclusive deal with THQ right now in regards to their 40k titles, which means that they won't and can't re-release any of their older titles. As for getting them to run:
Rites of war: Runs just fine on modern computers
Chaos Gate: Runs well in a virtual machine running Win 98. Will crash in XP, Vista & Win 7 when cultists opens fire (you can also manually remove all cultists from all levels in order to run the game, the map editor works on the campaign levels)
Dark Omen: Minimize the game as soon as the first video starts and then maximize it again to get rid of the flicker. Don't minimize it on the main menu or during gameplay, it will crash. Turn off all hardware acceleration for this game.
Shadow of the horned rat:The problem with this game is installing it. A certain abandonware site has a fixed version, but I won't link to it as that would be illegal. Google is your friend ;)
Final Liberation: Can run without the cutscenes, but that is most of the fun with that game...
Space hulk: Runs just fine in DosBOX.
Space Hulk 2: crashes, and I have found no workaround.
Chaos Gate can be run with Cultists, you have to rename the pistol sound from all caps to none (or reverse, it's been some time now, don't remember exactly).
Space hulk 2 runs fine on XP, but my cd is dying & it needs to be in the drive to play.
That's why I so want it on here.....
Chaos gate is the only one of these that I've never played.
Just never found a copy to buy...

I have to disagree. Loved that game and still load it up from time to time. I'm sure there's a bit of nostalgia involved, but still a decent game if you can keep yourself from hoarding artillery.

yeah I wish they would keep it cool a bit, I mean I would love to play their board games but everything is under tight control and so expensive.
I hope the games come to gog.com. Out of all the old ones of 40k I think I own one that was made for Blood Angels or Dark Angels (can't remember which one it was) I think the title was space hulk but im not sure without looking. How good was the game cause I never actually got round to playing it. I have a look tomorrow on what it was actually called.
