Hard to say how one would feel, remember, Picard's from a different time. Humanity in the 24th century might [and probably will] be completelly different. A great episode and a great song.

I really liked that episode (if it's the one I'm thinking of). Does it make you wonder if you could leave the same - a log of your life for future generations - would you? Ex: Instead of going to the museum to learn about Rome, you can live it.

I think it'd be bittersweet.
On the bright side the probe had a lot nicer memories than the one in Voyagers "Memorial" which gave half the bloody crew PTSD. Gah that ep was bad... "Lets force random passers by to relive butchering these people with no context at all!"

Back on topic, the Picard flute episode is one amazing episode in terms of story, plot, and characterization. I'd be upset if I couldn't help out the family I now had memories of, but you have to remember, even though the memories may seem real, it's just a technological method used to communicate the last days of a race. It could break the mind of some, but the strong minded can put it in perspective.
