We're more than happy to announce that this weekend we've managed to exceed 10,000 fans on [url=http://www.facebook.com/gogcom]Facebook! Of course we couldn't have done that without you - the greatest community out there! Thank you for your support and now let's have 10k followers on Twitter :)
Congrats, guys! I'm on Facebook.... and a fan!
Congrats, GOG! I no longer use Facebook, but I was a fan while I did!
You don't make 10,000 fans without making a few enemies.

The Classic Gaming Store, in theaters Fall 2010.

misslilo: Congrats to you :)
Unfortunately I won't be joining them or twitter, since I hate those places from the deepest of my heart.
Same here. Anyway, good job GOG!
Congratulations! I'm not on Facebook though, so I can't say I'm among the 10k.
I don't see the point in it, really.

Well, no doubt a lot of people use it in a narcissistic way. But at the end of the day, Facebook is an excellent way to keep up with friends and family you normally don't get to see and talk to. I was always against it too and then When I went to college and move from NY to LA I lost communications with my old friends and family and i also met many friends from different states and countries from my school who I wanted to keep in touch with when and if they moved back to wherever they lived. Facebook is a great way to like I said, keep in touch with all of the above.

A bit off-topic but I do believe alot of Facebook hate is irrational. If you don't have a need for it then that's all good. But it isn't all that bad :P

That said, I am a proud GOG fan on Facebook!
That's cool I guess but the over two million games downloaded thing was much more impressive. You guys should focus on stuff like that instead of Facebooks and Twitters and those new fangled things.

Except I don't care about keeping up with friends and family I don't normally get to see and talk to. Thanks, but I prefer to meet real friends in person.

I agree with this. It has more to do with actually how many purchases have been made.

Congratulations, I guess, but I don't use facebook nor twitter and have no intention of signing up there. This is especially hard for a web developer since 90% of clients want to be social and have a facebook app, even if their business doesn't fit there.

Aliasalpha: There's so many of us who feel this way, we should start a facebook grou... oh
Ha! You are still here. I was looking for your posts to see if you are still around or decided to leave GoG because of the PR stunt ;).
I am happy GOG relaunch seems to be such a success. It's enough to look at the Atari-Hasbro contest post. It already has over 1400 answers. And since this is such a nice sample I took some time and made some statistics for the post. I think they tell many things about the GOG community. Here are some findings:

1400 Responses in the *Contest: Guess what the next Atari-Hasbro title will be!* thread analyzed. New ones still appear but I had to stop somewhere :)
1144 Unique users found (sample size)

Those 1144 users can be presented based on the Registration month/year (attachment).
As we can see GOG launch was a great month for GOG with (22.3% new users), but the second greatest is THIS month of GOG relaunch (6.7%).

We can also take a look from the perspective of declared countries (attachment).
Users from 63 countries were interested in the contest. US is the best with 41% of unique users in the post, followed by Canada (7.2%), UK (6.8%) and Poland (5.1%).

And finally please note that this analysis was made just for fun. It does not reflect user statistics for the whole GOG site.

Wow, cool work on the statistics.

Clearly, you can't know who exists that isn't posting. I wonder how much of the GOG people who register and regularly buy games also regularly post in the boards.
That's probably enough to start our own religion. Hell, if Scientology can, so can we!

I nominate Weclock. As for our first sermon, I believe it should be over DRM and our version of the 10 Commandments.
