Pid, Strike Suit Zero, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, Trine, La Mulana, and more indie titles 60% off!

In the golden age of classic PC gaming there was very little limit to developers creativity when it came to action games. Each new title could introduce new ideas, gameplay models, technical advancements, and aesthetic choices. Nowadays the progress slowed down almost to a full stop, and the diversity toned down by far. New action games developed by large studios follow same patterns and rarely experiment with their identity. Even the best and most elaborate titles rarely divert from the popular choices. Are we really doomed to buy the same games over, and over again? Indies to the rescue! Modern independent developers present the same amount of sheer unlimited creativity as their predecessors in the 1980s and 1990s. Even when drawing from the classics, their games present the same enthusiasm and imagination as the titles many of us grew up with. That's why today, we're proud to present you with our Indie Action promo. You can get 12 indie titles, each of them original and fresh in its own way, with a 60% off discount!

There's , a gorgeous, original platforming adventure telling a story of a little boy stranded on a mysterious planet, for only $3.99. Or, if you like some physics-based puzzles in your platformers, for the same price you can grab Trine, a game following the fantastic voyage of three likeable characters, each with a special set of abilities. Or perhaps you like your games with a bit of punishing difficulty? Well then, be sure to check out La Mulana, a challenging old-school free-form platformer that lets you explore mysterious ancient Mayan ruins.

Say, maybe you're missing the excitement of deep space combat? Don't miss your chance to take the steers of Strike Suit Zero, for only $7.99. In this action packed, visually stunning revival of space combat sim genre, with many new ideas, you'll pilot a craft capable of transforming into a giant robot to take on swarms of enemies with unsurpassed maneuverability and firepower. Too serious for your taste? No problem! For only $3.99 you can take the fight somewhere completely different in Symphony. In this music-driven vertical shoot-em-up full of eye-candy, and packed with a dynamic electro-soundtrack, you will defend your very own music collection from a strange virtual entity that threatens to corrupt your hard drive.

That's not all by far! Make sure to navigate to our Indie Action promo page, and see what other exciting titles you can get 60% off this weekend. The offer lasts until Tuesday, August 6, at 3:59AM GMT. Don't miss out!

Redfoxe: You really like indies dont you GoG ;).
Not speaking for everyone at GOG as this is something subjective, but I like a lot of indies due to the fact that they remind me of a time when games focused on fun and interesting ideas. Also, remember the Ultima series could be considered "indie" back when Richard Garriot was selling diskettes in ziplock baggies :D

Mivas: Is Symphony hard core? Or is it more casual; when you feel like listening to the good music and play something to entertain yourself?
Have you ever played SHMUPS like Gradius or R-Type? If you have, it's kind of like that with enemies coming in waves and in a particular pattern. The only difference is that the kind of song you have playing dictates enemy density and how fast they come at you. It's not hard core like say a bullet hell shooter like Touhou is :D

keeveek: Not only slowdown with classic releases lately, but now indie promo?

GOG, turn back from this while you still can :P
SKY IS FALLING! :O

SpikedCereal: Indies is the only thing GOG likes, apparently GOG hates AAA titles, you know, the games people want to see here the most

jaron11: It’s not like GOG hates AAA titles. Just AAA devs loves DRM.
Dokładnie :P

timppu: Does anyone have a good opinion if 99 levels to Hell is better to play with a gamepad, or kb+mouse?

I just can't make up my mind about it. The gamepad seems otherwise more suitable for the game, but aiming with the mouse again gives an edge to mouse, even though it is mostly a 2D platformer game.
If I may, I found it much easier using the Kb + mouse combo. I tried it with a controller and went "NOPE!" and had a much easier time keyboard warrioring the game :D

keeveek: You know what reminds me about the time when games focused on fun and interesting ideas? Actual classic games that remind me about the time when games focused on fun and interesting ideas.
We have quite a few of those last time I checked. :D

Ghorpm: Judas, please! "dokładnie" in this context is a calque. You shouldn't use it like that :) I know that wikipedia is not the most trustworthy site but at least this article is pretty decent: http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglicyzm
Dude, 20+ years of using English structure is not just going to go away overnight, even though I try much to my and other Poles' detriment :D

Mivas: I see. No, I haven't. I don't play SHMUPS. I managed to finish only the combat sequences in Jade Empire grinding my teeth (the last flight!) but the idea of gaming tied to music is intriguing. Non-Touhou difficulty is definitely plus :).
Hmm, this could serve well as a filler for pauses at work... Decisions, decisions. Thanks for replying, Judas.
Well, here you can unlock permanent upgrades, have more than one weapon AND adjust the angle it fires, you can just autofire by pressing on the proper mouse button (IIRC..been a while since I played it...), and you can repair your ship on the fly as you play a level just by collecting musical notes.

Also, all you need is a mouse for this game :D
