Get Thief, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Soul Reaver, and more Square Enix classics up to 75% off!

We're all gamers, here at GOG.com, so we know very well that games aren't something you can have. They're something you must have. A commodity, essential to our wellbeing. We take it as our mission to deliver what makes you happy right onto your virtual doorstep. Our weekend [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/square_enix_weekend_promo_040414]Square Enix Supply offers you the chance to get games from some of the most exciting series with up to 75% off discount. Square Enix catalog features some of the most impressive gems in the GOG.com offer. Titles that evoke memories and emotions in thousands and thousands of gamers. The character cast of the Square Enix stable alone is impressive enough to make one's heart race. If GOG.com had a red carpet, celebrities such as Lara Croft, Garret the Master Thief, Agent 47, Kain and Raziel, and JC Denton would arrive to walk it on a limousine marked by Square Enix logo. Let's take a quick look at the featured games, shall we?

Lara Croft is the ever-shining star of the Tomb Raider series. Lately her character has undergone some major changes. Here, we give you a chance to spend some quality time with good--erm--classic Lara. Tomb Raider 1+2+3, Tomb Raider: Last Revelation + Chronicles, and Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness sum up all of the miss Croft's early career, for only $3.99 each!

Yet another hero who is a fan of property re-assignment concept, Garret the Thief has now made a comeback with a new game. The word on the street is that the new title is very nice, but not quite what the long-time fans of the series expected from a Thief game. On GOG.com you can catch up with all of Garret's classic adventures, as long as you can keep up with him, as he silently moves through the shadows. Thief Gold, Thief 2: The Metal Age, and Thief 3: The Deadly Shadows let you experience the life of a thievery archmaster, for only $3.49 each!

Not really in the mood for action and adventure? Startopia takes the classic city-builder genre to the stars and lets you manage a fully simulated alien society of nine distinctive races in which each citizen's mood, needs, and goals can be individually tracked. You'll get some help from VAL--your AI advisor--brilliantly voiced by William Franklyn, the British actor famous for his Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio performance. The game is only $1.49 this weekend!

That's only a small taste of the Square Enix titles you can get up to 75% off this weekend. Head out to our Square Enix Supply promo page, to check out the whole offer available until Tuesday, April 8, at 3:59AM GMT. Enjoy your weekend!
Gonna grab Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaikatana!

Maybe.

IAmSinistar: I have to admit that Total Overdose looks like campy fun,
It' short stupid and fast....I LOVE IT!

And to keep from double posting I want to throw out what I originally came in here for. I bought Gangsters 1 a thousand years ago and couldn't get into it, but a year + in this place I have learned SOOOO much about strategy games so I'm thinking of giving it a go (like I could find the disc!?). Anyone here want to comment on the difficulty and also, are there any chances of Gangsters 2 showing up here?
So many great games on promo, about dozen from my wishlist, too bad I'm broke.
Anyway, I came here to recommend Urban Chaos to everyone who never tried it, it's an amazing and unfortunately underrated gem. You really shouldn't hesitate to give it a try now that it's so dirty cheap.
I was certain i already bought Project Eden on GOG before but i was wrong. Now its mine! o/

I remember how much fun i had playing this co-op with friends back in the days.

Thank you GOG team, we love you guys! <3

Thanks, it might get a buy from me after all then. Especially if it falls into one-day game territory.

You ever see the movie Desperado with Antonio Banderas? It's basically a rip off that right down to the guitar case machine guns.

phaolo: - LoK series --> I've only played the old nice BO1 and then SR2.
About the latter, the story-graphic-music were cool, but the overall gameplay was average! Same levels repeated 2-3 times, no choices, another open ending. Is SR1 better? Are BO2 and Defiance worth playing and do they properly end the story?
The ending thing is actually a problem that is present in most of the LoK games, because pretty much none of them reach an actual conclusion, although SR1 might be the worst in that way (the opening cinematic in SR2 is basically SR1's entire ending, give or take a boss fight), while Defiance at least doesn't really end on a cliffhanger.

However, I'd still recommend SR1. You've already played the second one, so you're aware of where the story ends up going after the cliffhanger, but the world design is actually a bit different. SR1 is basically a "metroidvania" and as such has a much more "open world" feel to it than the very linear SR2. The amount of block pushing puzzles is ridiculous, though.

If repetition was one of your key problems with SR2, you should probably stay away from Defiance. Just like all the games in the series, it has a great story and fantastic writing, but it's padded beyond belief. The fact that you spend an ungodly amount of time going back and forth between extremely similar looking temples (which is essentially the entire middle part of the game) made me quit it. Sad, really, because the plot is really fascinating and the gameplay, at its core, is pretty good. I got the feeling that it's a bit more combat oriented than the rest of the series.

Funnily enough, based on your questions, you might consider giving BO2 a shot, even though it's commonly considered to be the "black sheep" of the series. It's a largely self-contained story, with a somewhat dubious place in canon (it appears to take place in an alternate timeline created in SR2) and features somewhat different gameplay. There's still an emphasis on melee combat, but also some stealth elements. The environments are quite a bit more varied than in the rest of the series as well, since you travel to some seriously weird places over the course BO2.
Since it takes place in between BO1 and SR1 (more or less), there is no conclusion to the series' overall plot, but it might be the only title in the series that actually wraps up its own story.
Nice, you own all games from this promo.

Better buy them all one more time, just to be on the safe side .

I did catch that reference in one of the screenshots. It makes sense that the game would be over the top if it's riffing on that film.

How well does the game control? Does it work natively with a gamepad or Xbox controller?

I used a keyboard mouse because of transition ala GTA. You're driving, jump out start blasting, climb, jump, blast, jump in another car, more driving, etc etc.

Ah, that makes sense then if there are all those transitions. Thanks!

The following is a cut and paste from the top of the sale page:
"Get Thief, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Soul Reaver, and more Square Enix classics up to 75% off!"

Not real big on reading are you? :P
I'm glad we saw another Hitman game released if only to show we can still get games from big-name publishers. But I'm sad we didn't see another one this week. If Final Fantasy 7 and 8 are out of the question, and Revenant has compatibility issues, surely Dungeon Siege is more of a possibility.
