Due to some issues having to do with my email address, I'm now unable to access my Steam account. The gist of it is that I changed my email address from an address I don't have access to to one that I do have access to. Since I didn't have access to the old one, I didn't have the confirmation code to confirm my new address. But being an idiot, I decided to try clicking "next" anyway, and it seemed to take it! Yay! Then support reset my password and emailed the new one to me, and I never got the email. So here I am, during the big Steam Christmas sale, unable to buy anything until support figures out why I'm not getting any emails (and yes, I've checked my spam folder).

Grr.

And yes, anyone who has seen me talk about how foolish Steam-paranoid people are can officially say "I told you so." :3

Anyway, I just felt like venting.

Make a new account, buy what you want as gifts and store them in your inventory. When you get the main account back, gift the games to that account.

Worst case you could make a second account and buy games as a gift on there, and then trade them to your main account later when you get it back.

Expired emails are a pain though to be sure.

Any idea if support slows down during the holidays?

EDIT: never mind, I just got a reply. Let's see what they advise...

Keep in mind he's contacting support with the demand to be able to spend money. They're quick to help there.
Well, the reply was kinda useless. He claimed he "updated your account so you may login," but I still can't.

Ugh.

Steam support is unfortunately very bad.

I told.... no seriously I wish you good luck getting this all sorted out.

I had my account locked back in 2011 when a credit card payment took about 10 min to complete for whatever reason. After I confirmed with my card company that nothing was wrong on their end, I contacted Steam support and had a back and forth for about 4 days before they unlocked my account.

Hope you get it cleared up, and let us know how it goes.

I would say the opposite, they are always quick and helpful in my experience.

Anyway, I'm sure it will get worked out.
Yup, got it solved. It took awhile, though. Seems that my gmail account won't get emails from steam no matter how hard I try. I signed up for a hotmail account just for my Steam emails, and that seems to work.
