So If I see a game for sale both here and on Steam I'll usually buy it from here on GOG to help support GOG and also because it's DRM free but sometimes that choice isn't that easy. Here's what I mean.

Take Torchlight 2. Lets say it's finally been released here on GOG. I'd rather buy it from Steam and in fact I already have. And the reason is the same reason I bought ShadowRun Returns from Steam and not here on GOG. Steam Workshop. Torchlight 2 is the best example that I have. On steam workshop Torchlight 2 has approximately 870 mods while on the Nexus, probably the biggest collection of mods has 5 for Torchlight 2.

Shadow Run returns on Steam Workshop: 270 mods. On Nexus: 84.

So my issue is that from buying from GOG I kinda loose a big part of the game in the sense that in a game like Shadowrun returns which was made to live off of community creation, I'm loosing big time there.

So here's my idea. Can we have the option on games that have Steam workshop to buy from GOG and maybe for 20% get a steam key as well? It would be an option, not forced but I'd love to get all my games from GOG but when it comes to Steam Workshop I can't really do that...
So steam workshop mods are some exclusive or something? Can't they work outside of steam? I never used the workshop but if that's the case that's a bit lame.
As far as I can tell yes. You have to own the game on Steam than you subscribe to the mod and it automatically loads the mods into the game and keeps it up to date automatically. The mods them selves aren't exclusive it's just up to the mod creators whether they make them available outside Workshop or not. But most the time it's easier to keep it in Workshop.
Just to throw this in here, but for TL2 specifically you can find a lot of mods at RGF. That might be a better resource for that game than the Nexus.
