If GOG.com closes, we all get a bottle of Polish vodka and a revolver containing a single bullet.

As an adventure game veteran(-wannabe D:), I'd shoot the vodka.

JudasIscariot: Replying to your earlier , multi-quote post:

Do we need to set up a "TheEnigmaticT Polish vodka fund" so that you may get some Polish vodka?

I have several brands I can recommend :D

Executer: I prefer Sweden... Absolute Vodka ;)
Finlandia is much better than Absolut.

Hidden treasure time:

Irish vodka by the name of Boru. Cheap, as in $20,IIRC(in Florida at least) for a 1.75 L bottle, yet so smooth and clean.

aramir45: But there is no limit time, so you can ask 100 years later if you want.
There is no explicit limit, sure. But the common rule, for all pieces of software, is that the publisher stops at a given time to support its product. I very much doubt that any large publisher would be willing to provide you with a spare cd once the non non support decision becomes effective.

For example, I had a similar problem with one very well known company. Couldn't read the CD on any DVD reader. They simply replied me that they did not support that game anymore and couldn't provide any help watsoever, even against payment. I was not supposed to use that game anymore on a modern system.

aramir45: I hope I don't afraid people by posting this.
Not at all.

The disapperance of online game services would be an annoyance . What happens when ( not if, but when ) electricity and energy become much scarcer than they currently are. Just think about everything we will loose, not just games ....
