Leroux: -snippy-
I definitely agree that Spiderweb Software games have ridiculous amounts of love and devotion poured into them, but I just don't agree that you can take an intentionally old design and charge the same price as a brand new release. Take GOG's newest release, Legends of Lore. I'd definitely pay 5.99 for that, and I'd definitely pay 9.99 for it too. But if they asked me for $25, there' no way I'd do it.

And yeah, Spiderweb is making modern releases, but their intentionally sticking to an extremely old school design that really isn't much more advanced, technology wise, than Legends of Lore or most other GOG RPGs. I totally commend them for making these brilliant niche RPGs, but I just can't justify paying that much money for it. Hell, I don't pay $25 for brand new AAA games, let alone extremely old school indie RPGs.

I will say that Jeff Vogel seems to have realized that his pricing scheme was borderline infeasible, and Spiderweb games are far more reasonable these days, especially on Steam and other such digital distribution sites.

I'll buy Avadon for 5 to 10 dollars, but for twenty plus I'll just stick to different Steam sales.

POLE7645: I would suggest Aquaria. A great game.

While someone suggested Amnesia: The Dark Descent, I'd suggest the Penumbra series. They're a bit harder to get an hold on.

Penumbra can be gotten there direct from the developers. Only a CD key that has to be entered when you install it.
None or as few as possible.

By definition indie games don't have publishers to deal with; they are property of the developer and it's unlikely for there to be issues in securing distribution rights.

Also, more often than not, indie games are already cheap and DRM free.

Basically, there really isn't much advantage to having indie games available here, especially since there are so many other games that are simply not available anywhere .

Leroux: Yeah, I wondered about that, but whatever I click on it just says "DRM: See bundled products" ... Do you know from experience it's completely DRM-free?
The usual GG DRM Free. You get a downloader, which downloads the installer .exe. That one you can keep and use any time. I've seen no activations, serials or steams whatsoever and I bought it there this summer.
Adventure games.
Pretty much everything from Wadjet Eye Games, and stuff like that.

And games like The Tales of Bingwood which might even qualify as old games, even though they are new.

It would be nice to have indie bundle activation codes for GOG as well, like there are for Steam and Desura.
As many already have said, I don't go to GOG for indie games. Most indie games already are DRM free and often packed with extras. They are also (mostly) reasonably priced.

Therefore GOG would do me any good in this regard. I find that Desura has covered the indie niche rather solid and I good with them.

I would rather have the GOG legal SWAT hunting down elusive oldies than making deals with indie developers.
Gemini Rue would fit GOG's (soon to be old) philosophy. I would also love to see LIMBO here if GOG will indeed get indie titles - AFAIK you can only buy it on Steam for PC, correct?

Slightly off-topic, but since you seem to have experience with Desura, I always wondered if they are 100% DRM-free or more like Steam, requiring a (online) client to install or play. Can you enlighten me?

Ahem, my experience with desura is "limited" at best. But from what I've learned their client is 100% optional to play the games. I used it to "sort" the games that are neither GOG nor Steam and it did a nice job with that.

From the 5 - 10 games I've played on Desura they were all DRM free and I could start them without the client.

But I guess others know more about Desura than I do, as I don't use it that much.

Edit: Disclaimer: I didn't test everyone of the games I played on Desura in regards of playability without the client, just a couple.

Ah, ok, sounds good, but I'll take it with a grain of salt then; maybe someone with more experience could clarify? You didn't mention the installation process, btw - do you think it's possible to install the games without the client?

The client downloads the game in "installed" state. Still you can backup the game's folder and run it somewhere else.
Shoot1up, Cave Story, La Mulana, River City Rampage, I'm OK, Eternal Daughter, Diary of Anne Frank, Barkley Shut up and Jam Gaiden, 8bit Killer, Station 37, Hydorah, 8bit Killer, Abbey des Morts, Spelunky, Goonies 2, Minecraft, Breath of Death 7, Legend of Princess, Noitu Love, and Ai Oni
Super Meat Boy and Trine 2.

I have many other indie games already, don't really care if they appear here or not.
VVVVVV.
