I've getting into the Crossed series originally started by Garth Ennis, particularly the webcomic Wish You Were Here . It's a no-hold-barred looks at survivors in a world infested by rape zombies (seriously) and shows people at their absolute worst. So what's your candidate for meanest comic?
Define "meanest".

Well, i once read few chapters of "Pupa" and that one seemed just itsy-bitsy wicked. No idea where author imagines that stuff and actually dont care to know :D

-Berserk is probably my single favorite and its at times grim as it gets.
-Hellblazer is also rather dark one.
-Gantz might be "good" choice as well.
-MPD Psycho & Leviathan are also rather disturbing as well - but its long time since i read them.
-Everything drawn by Tsutomu Nihei is grim and dark, but mean? mmm perhaps not in the wicked way as few i mentioned already.

Meanest animation ive ever seen would be Ima Sokoni Iru Boku - Now and then, here and there. Now that one is as anti-child as animation can get i think.

That. Although if what you mean is sick, as I first thought, there's this one clear candidate that automatically pops in my head.
Reid Fleming, World's Toughest Milkman!

When I started reading manga (long story) I just downloaded series at random without even reading the summaries. I got all kinds of results, but there was this one... Ohmygod, that one...

I'm a hoarder, I hardly ever delete anything once I've downloaded it, because I like to have a wide variety of stuff on hand. But that one, I just had to delete it. And while I would like to say I deleted all reference to it from my head, as I type it I still remember. Oh well, at least that way I shouldn't redownload it by mistake.

Crossed was the first thing that came to mind as I read the thread title. However, I haven't seen most of what other posters mentioned here with the exception of Berserk.
I recall seeing some ultra-violent S&M comic on the net (I don't recall the name, or if it even had any proper name). Man, the guy (I presume it was a guy) creating that comic had some severe misogyny issues.

oh, almost forgot. This is quite something as well. French maybe, lazy to read atm -_-

DC Vs Wildstorm: Dreamwar. Nothing like a comic where the "heroes" leave the "villain" incapable of ever sleeping again and find it funny.
Also the villain is a stereotype fat looser nerd who wishes life was more like the 50's DC comics. Aren't comics that attack their target audience just charming?

Also anything by Alan Moore. Moore treats fictional characters the way Johnny 23 treats women. He fucks them and moves on to the next one.
Maus
Preacher is also a contender for meaniness
How about the comic which depicts the Rape of Nanking and was banned in Japan. Nothing grimmer than reality.

Think I have something for you:
Becchin to Mandara (aka Velveteen & Mandala) by Jiro Matsumoto

Also has rape zombies, plus Japanese high school girls in post-apocalyptic Tokyo. I've read a couple 10'000 pages worth of comics but this one definitely sticks out as one of the extra weird ones.

Also check out Freesia by the same author, Jiro Matsumoto's art style may not be everyone's cup of tea but it is refreshingly unique, takes a bit of getting used to. Freesia is one of my all time favorites, completely and utterly nihilistic and cynical to the bone though so it's not for everybody.
