ovoon: I've been playing Donkey Kong Country 3, Golden Sun, and Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance all week! I intend on beating them all.

SirPrimalform: Ooh, make sure you play Aria of Sorrow after HoD and The Lost Age after Golden Sun.
Yea I intend to. Do you think these sequels are better than the originals? This is my first Castlevania game by the way, and I absolutely love it.

I do think the Lost Age is the better of the two (GS1 just feels like a prologue once you get to 2).
I think Aria of Sorrow is better in some ways. It's not a sequel per se (few Castlevania games are direct sequels) but it carries over a lot of mechanics from HoD as well as some from Symphony of the Night (the PS1 game that provided the template for pretty much all 2D Castlevanias that followed by basically being a Castlevania themed Metroid game).

If you end up liking Aria of Sorrow, there's a direct sequel on the DS called Dawn of Sorrow which is also pretty good. Portrait of Ruin follows that and is a pretty solid game, but not the best. I've heard excellent things about the last DS one, "Order of Ecclesia" but I've not played it myself.

Also, Golden Sun has a third game on the DS which I have yet to play.
Ha ha, just joined the emulators is divine crowd a few weeks ago too. Got the PS1 PS2 and Dreamcast emulators since I've had 2 Dreamcasts die on me and my $600 60 gig PS3 died eliminating my PS2 playback after I'd already sold my PS2 away. And for PS1, after seeing the graphical upgrade the emulator offered such gems as Xenogears and Chrono Cross that were collecting dust on my shelf, I am in old school JRPG heaven right now.
I absolutely love emulators. I know there are some people who think they are something bad. Or some who think, only the real hardware gives the right experience. I don't agree.

I even like the subtle enhancements emulators provide. But, if you like to hear more about my opinion, I recently made a video about my Top 10 emulators (including horrible voice-over by yours truly):

So guys, any perfect games for SNES that I should get? :-D
That's a very nice video. I'm gonna check out your other stuff, too.
And where the world, our digital world would be without piracy? Without abandonware? Without LSD? Err, maybe not that last one XD

I'm not too sure about that "without". I'm quite convinved it influenced many seemingly dumb decisions that have driven technology forward.

I think it contributed to our cultural evolution too. :P
But yeah, I believe Timothy Leary was an early proponent of the internet (he was also crazy though unfortunately).

16-bit RPGs are great!

If you haven't, you must try:

* The legend of Zelda: a link to the past

* Final Fantasy 3 (or 6 in the japanese numbering)

And outside RPG genre:

* Super Mario World

* Contra III

SNES has an awesome game library.

PS:
You should open a new thread with this question !
people should add gamebase to their emulators. a nice frontend with a click on a button you can see a screenshot and play the game you like.
there is a gamebase for almost everything, commodore, nintendo, msx, sega.

"Where would the world be without emulators?"

....drowning in drugs for that good-feeling.

No, seriously, people need to get reminded of the good ol days, where it all started. Programming, the art, script, music/acting voices... etc.

Retro gaming with emulators is gaining more and more followers on several platforms, where modern games simply wont run on. Few games can match the story, atmosphere and playability vs. resource hungry monsters with bad attitude.

Besides, I would rather play on emulators for ps1/2 and the old black&White Gameboy. Think of all those used batteries i have used and thrown, destroying our beautiful nature... four aaa batteries each time! :-)

Agreed on Golden Sun. Under rated RPG.
Knee deep unnecessary remakes?:)
