tfishell: Only thing I don't like about the forum is that it seems like discussion of old games often seems suppressed. Some newbie posts a topic saying, "Hey, anybody remember
x? Great game! [YouTube link]", then TheJoe (sorry man) comes in with a shotgun yelling, "Git off mah lawn! The wishlist is over thar!"
Anyway, since I'm here for the nostalgia (mmmm, 3D accelerators) I wish more talk about this would be allowed. On the other hand, maybe nobody is really interested in that subject. :-/
I think holding ourselves to a standard is good, however.
You can be an asshole anywhere on the Internet (and I have), but it takes a real man to be polite online. I think the big problem is that it's hard to have a long discussion about just nostalgia. You can talk about a game as it relates to a specific topic, or discuss specifics about a game, but just gushing about how much you loved a game as a kid doesn't really lead to any discussion apart from "yeah, I loved it too. The end."
