Hey, I have $20 and have decided to spend it on GOG. I didn't anticipate the trouble I would have narrowing it down. But after much deliberation, I have whittled it down to three games, the problem is, I can't decide which 2 to get. The three are Baldur's Gate 2, Planescape: Torment, and Icewind Dale (or ID2). I have read many reviews for each, and I honestly can't decide. I love both the combat and story aspects for each game. Can you guys help me out? Maybe by listing what you like about each game, the pros and cons and such?

Get PST, because then you will experience the whole story. ID are obviously 'two' games, so you'll need to get both.

Just get PST, you'll only spend 1/2 of your money, and it will keep you occupied for a very long time.

As for cons / pros, I'll let others talk about that, haven't played ID at all, but PST is just... big.
Planescape Torment should definitely be one. The setting is unique and the story is engaging as are the characters. I'm not a huge fan of the early D&D games such as Baldur's Gate & Icewind Dale as they're too hardcore but Planescape Torment kept me interested.
PST PST PST
Planescape torment should be your first choice. Its story and setting is still unbeaten, its writing is outstanding and it is a game that leaves quite an impression on you.

As for the other game, I can't tell you which one to buy, but here are the pros & cons of BG2 & IWD.
BG2:
Pros:
-A strong story (far stronger than BG1)
-Relatively well developed followers, they have personalities of their own and most of them have plenty of dialogue
-A lot of interesting sidequests, some which are class & alignment based, which gives the game a fare amount of replay value
Cons:
-Weaker combat than IWD
-Can at times feel like it drags a bit
-Some major balancing issues that comes with high level AD&D.

IWD (go for 1 first):
Pros:
-Interesting and challenging tactical combat
-You get to design your own party from scratch
-Absolutely stunning environments
-Best music of any infinity engine game
Cons:
-Your party has no real personality (all characters are after all designed by you at the start of the game)
-Can be overwhelming for someone who is unfamiliar with the rulesystem
-Weaker story than BG2
Amoung these three BG2 and PST are superior receptional wise. However, if you are getting BG2, you might also want to get BG1 at the same time, as there's a mod combining BG1+2 into one single giant game. So if you already have BG1, then BG2+PST is the way to go. If not, then I would suggest you to get either BG1+2 or PST+IWD.
Definately go with Planescape, absolutely amazing game from start to finish.

Out of the other 2 I preferred BG2 over IWD. The IWD series I actually preffered the second game in the series.

Just to throw something right out there have you looked at The Witcher?
Alright, unless anyone has anything else to add, I think I'm going for PTS and BG2. Thatnk you all so much. Cheers!
