Seems like a very different approach to the first part going 3d and such. http://www.daedalic.de/en/game/The_Whispered_World_2

And this is coming out soon http://www.daedalic.de/en/game/1954_Alcatraz

Hope to see them on GOG too.
speaking of the whispered world 2 I dont think it's going to be on 3d that is just the trailer (I hope not I loved the hand craft graphics of the first one)
In Alcatraz those are hand drawings

"With completely new 3D visuals, The Whispered World 2 will take players back to Silence, a world made of dreams."
Does make it seem it's the whole game, but yeah a bit of guessing for now till we see more.

Well in alcatraz they say something similar
"More than 20 additional 3D animated characters" but then "More than 60 hand drawn backdrops"
Thanks for this lugum! They both look good.
Small update - 1954 Alcatraz has been set for a March 11 release on GOG and Steam.

The game will have English and German localization at launch. However, in line with today's announcement regarding certain new releases having regional pricing, it appears that 1954 Alcatraz will be one such case (though I'm not certain - various articles have slightly different information). I think that was the barrier for German versions of Daedalic's games being offered on GOG, so I guess it's a trade-off.

Sources below - I've included snippets of text to highlight where there is some conflicting information. Please excuse the length.

link 1 - "You’ll be able to find it on Steam or GOG on March 11, 2014 at a price of $19.99 or the less favorable €19.99 for European crowds."

link 2 - "It will cost $19.99, and feature a full localization in English and German, with French and Russian subtitles available."

link 3 - "PC and Mac gamers will pay £16.99 for the German-engineered adventure, which will feature options to play in English or German..."

link 4 - "available on Steam and GOG for $19.99 (USD), including a full localization in English and German..."

link 5 - "available via Steam, and GOG for £16.99 with full localisation in English and German..."

link 6 - "available on both Steam and GoG for $19.99 with English and German localization"

Here's a video showing a bit of gameplay of an early version of the Whispered World 2:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqO5lmK1zK0

Although characters and background are 3D, it does have a 2D look to it and it will be playable via pointing and clicking (as it should be). I think it looks great, I'm only hoping they won't tone it down to much puzzle-wise (they said the gameplay will be more "casual" than the first part).
that looks just amazing, really one of the best scenes I've ever seen!

As a huge fan of the talented people over at Daedalic, and their superb craftsmanship of point and click adventure games -- I truly think that Daedalic and, to an extent, Wadjet Eye (before going all mobile) are the contemporary Sierra and LucasArts --, I can only hope The Whispered World 2 comes to GOG. Daedalic and GOG are a match made in heaven, in my book.

As far as the game being in 3D, it doesn't really bother me, I trust the developers know what they're doing, and while The Whispered World had a charm of its own with the beautifully animated 2D cartoon-like sprites and environments, if the trailer for the sequel is anything to go by, it's looking jaw-droppingly gorgeous, with a beautiful artistic direction and extremely well written and put together.

Looking forward to this one.
a lot of people hated the whispered world because of the voice of the main character, I think it's just different and you need time to get used to it, the plot was very good and sad, I love sad stories specially in adventure games.
Most of the new adventure games ends up well, the hero prevails the bad guy die or it's defeated etc etc, daedalic made games were there are not heroes, you are just a person who cant solve and fix everything and in the end you do what you can, like in memoria or eyes of satinav,
Or games with dark and very crude humor like deponia or edna and harvey, you just dont see this kind of games anywhere...

You're spot on. One of my personal favorite poets, a Portuguese crazy lady called Adília Lopes, said once that people relate better to sad stories because we feel our own pain more intensely than our joy or happiness. Daedalic are masters of crafting and delivering sad, engrossing tales in their games.

You mentioned Chains of Satinav and Memoria, which are two fine examples of what we're talking about. I don't know much about Das Schwarze Auge/The Dark Eye universe, but I think it's safe to assume that, like its US counterpart, Dungeons & Dragons, there would have been "better", more heroic and brave characters in that franchise to choose from, rather than a simple lowly bird catcher. And yet Geron was the character Daedalic chose for their point and click adventure series set in The Dark Eye world. And I'm glad they did. He's "one of us", he's easy to relate with, has human flaws and qualities, has doubts and passions. And though I was expecting that bittersweet ending to Chains of Satinav, it didn't make it less sad and touching. Really, really well done by the awesome storytellers at Daedalic.

[EDIT] As for Sadwick's voice actor... well, it wasn't my favorite thing about the game, far from it, but it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. In this day and age people just enjoy nitpicking, I guess...

Crazy or not she is completely right, at least that's what I think too.
I think just like the planescape torment team did with the d&d world, daedalic did the same with the dark eye universe, with the characters and the universe, rather than going for the easy way with the heroic main character they picked Geron, and that's why I love daedelic, because they are always taking risks, making a game that maybe not everyone will enjoy but they do it anyway, that risk is worth a lot this days where most of the companies and developers dont risk nothing and go for the safe/easy route, trying to milk their franchises over and over.
