spinefarm: Uh you are a Mac user and you talk about the last releases of Ubuntu?
I have Ubuntu 12.04 on both of my laptops. One is using AMD CPU & Ati VGA the other one is Intel CPU & VGA . No problems with drivers on both so far... and this is with Ubuntu in beta ;)
From Ubuntu 10.04 to last release I didn't have issues with drivers... so I guess the problem is in you ;)
uulav: So basically what you are saying for that person who is having those problems that he is fucked. Nice way to lure people to use linux and when they have problems you just say "fucky you".
No I'm basically saying to read more about it :) I have no issues with Ubuntu. It is an user friendly OS for newbies on Unix Distribution.
The only issue with Unix based OSs is the games compatibility :) But people use Unix for offices not for gaming ;)

kavazovangel: A friend of mine had issues the last time he tried installing the drivers for his AMD GPU, terrible GUI performance and various glitches here and there. He's been driverless ever since. And he's an Ubuntu user for a long time now.
It may be the drivers and not exactly Ubuntu-related, but still, GPU support for Linux isn't that good.
The problem is not from Ubuntu... it's from Ati/Nvidia/Intel... they just don't like supporting another OS... Dunno my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 works fine with latest ATI drivers on Ubuntu...
