So basically what you are saying for that person who is having those problems that he is fucked. Nice way to lure people to use linux and when they have problems you just say "fucky you".

A friend of mine had issues the last time he tried installing the drivers for his AMD GPU, terrible GUI performance and various glitches here and there. He's been driverless ever since. And he's an Ubuntu user for a long time now.

It may be the drivers and not exactly Ubuntu-related, but still, GPU support for Linux isn't that good.

No I'm basically saying to read more about it :) I have no issues with Ubuntu. It is an user friendly OS for newbies on Unix Distribution.
The only issue with Unix based OSs is the games compatibility :) But people use Unix for offices not for gaming ;)
The problem is not from Ubuntu... it's from Ati/Nvidia/Intel... they just don't like supporting another OS... Dunno my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 works fine with latest ATI drivers on Ubuntu...

I will recommend Ubuntu if you are just totally anti-redmondware, don't want to pay money for an OS, or just lack enough computing skills in general as to be unable to empty out a piss filled boot.

Or you just don't want to pay 200$ for a buged OS :)

I'm OK with Old Yeller (my PC 'cause when I was an amateur it made lots of error noises). I know how delete and remove viruses and blah blah blah. EDIT: VMware FTW!

90s' Microsoft? They were even more hated then than they are now! The average user was happy but there was serious resentment towards Bill Gates in the old days. Nowadays we kind of just put up with it like Adobe's products, excellent usability but terrible service and outrageous prices.

Ok let me put it this way: Ubuntu is good enough alternative for WIndows 7 for a normal user that don't use his PC for different things than browsing the web,listening to music,watching movies...writing a document on OpenOffice.
If somebody can't use the program manager he can always read about it :) Enough info out there.

About mentioned from you Fedora.... It's definetly for users that are used to Unix...

Also, on the subject of Linux: I think the ease of use of Ubuntu is vastly overstated. If you're already good with computers and willing to look for alternative open source programs over the usual Windows ones, than Ubuntu is great. However, I've known way too many people who tried installing Ubuntu on their parents' computers so they stop getting so many viruses, and it always seems to end with frustration and tragedy.

It's a great system, but it's definitely not as easy to use because a) people aren't used to it and b) you can't use the majority of the usual programs on it, and need to go out of your way for alternatives. The kinds of users looking for ease of use are usually the same kind of users that hate change.
