Hi all,
Been wanting to hear about this handheld for some time now from those who are using it. Does anyone have this yet?

They sold out preorders quite a while ago, then got in trouble with something and botched the deal (economic crisis probably), and now it seems they must honor their preorder customers first. Most in south korea, if I remember correctly. I didn't order it, probably never will, but who knows. It has some potential, if they don't have the kind of manufacturers that focus on "do not fall apart in hands" sales strategy.
If it's anything like the GP2X it will be a nice little emulation machine.
So we'll expect to see the system in time for Fall 2875?
Afaik the first finished Pandoras were shipped to pre-order customers a while ago, but I have no when the next batch will be out. Would love to get one, it seems incredibly powerful.
The main problem with the Pandora (apart from it being impossible to get) is that due to the extreme delays, the hardware specs which seemed so impressive in 2008 aren't all that impressive anymore.
I think that, with proper planning, the Pandora could have been a huge success. I'd have bought one myself for sure (I already have a GP2X). As it is, I think it's going to disappear quietly. Hopefully, they'll make a Pandora2, but with proper planning and logistics this time.

I agree that its funding doesn't match its potential, but funding might be a bit difficult to secure at the moment.

I don't think it was the funding. From what I gather, the huge delay was mostly caused by their Chinese subcontractor in charge of making the cases not delivering on their contract. I believe the electronics themselves have been finished for ages, and just sitting in a warehouse somewhere waiting for pieces of molded plastic to be fitted into.

I wasn't aware of that. I was instead referring to the rather small scare of the production compared to the potential demand, along with the complete lack of marketing and branding. Truth be told I'll have probably forgotten what the company and the products are called by the end of the week.

WOW. To think how many capable people are out there who could use work that should have catered to the dilemma. It's a shame they hadn't the capital to turn them out elsewhere and deal with the contract later.
Heard word of them online some time ago, then was reminded via a podcast. It says May 2010 everywhere and figured there'd be Youtube of these things in action but came up with nothing so far into June left me wondering. Even though Pandora is a tacky name for a stripper :D it's a great name for this product. Never forgot the name despite there being no exposure or push behind the product.
Bet when they fulfill their obligations to their initial purchasers they will turn more money on Ebay for them! Darn, now I want 2!! LOL

Some of them have already done that. One of my colleagues showed me two eBay auctions for a new Pandora by the same person. Evidently, he'd bought three with the specific purpose of selling the other two on eBay, knowing they'd be impossible for other people to get via normal means.

That has almost a week left, its going to go for twice that amount by then.
The completed auctions have mostly gone for $1,000 to $ 1,900 !!!!!
Anyone know when or where to keep a look out for when or if there's a next pre-order?
It look like most of those auctions were exploits by dealers themselves, I really just want one to play gogs on.

The creators are quite active at the gp32x forums. Maybe theres some information there.
I preordered a Pandora like two years ago, thinking i would be able to port Dosbox and play some games on trips. I was also messing with Freeciv trying to figure out how to port it to Pandora's architecture.
In the end, i got tired of waiting, cancelled my preorder and bought a cheap netbook instead. I'm more than satisfied.
I think that you can still get a preorder Pandora if you go to the OpenPandora forums and look around for someone willing to sell their spot on the delivery list, since it was a "first come, first served" kind of thing.
The thing that really surprises me is that they are finally delivering this thing, for a while i thought it was going to be vaporware.
