As PaakType stated, it's priced at $50 as it is only available with that pre-order Valve refuse to offer to us (in complete opposition to the instructions of Square Enix's CEO >_<).

Anyhow, due to limitations with the Steam store, it always shows the lowest price a game is available at. So for those not available on their own, they show the price of the cheapest pack they are available in.

It is possible that once DS3 is released, that DS1 and 2 will be released as stand alone products and at that time, will get a lower price displayed.

You can get the game on Steam or D2D. Use a crack after installing it, and it will be exactly like the physical copy. :)

It's not $50 on steam. The whole 3 game pack is $50 on steam. You can't buy DS1 separately, which is why it's showing the pack price when you look it up.

Re: not being able to buy things on amazon, you can go to other region's Amazon sites and order from them, at least sometimes. The mailing address doesn't matter unless it's something pretty odd. I ordered British-region DVD's and players from Amazon's British site even though I'm in America. I think I typed in a /UK at the end of the usual amazon.com. You can get to their other sites this way too.

It's worth trying. I often like the British reviews of books and shows and such, so it's cool to check out even if you aren't going to buy anything.

I was only slightly curious because it caught my eye on Steam.

Pre-order Dungeon Siege III on Steam you get both the first 2 for free according to slickdeals.net. No idea about any expacs.

According to the Steam forums, they do not come with any expansions. As mentioned on the DS3 page, they are also void of any multiplayer.

I'm not sure it had compelling multi did it? Maybe it was co-op, I guess that might have been fun.

No expacs kind of ruins the deal, but it beats spending 50 bucks to get the originals, I guess.

For me personally, the cooperative play is what made it a little more entertaining and worthwhile. I wouldn't really consider it compelling though, just a bit more entertaining than the base game, as adventuring with friends is always more fun.

Maybe there are legal reasons behind it, but it surprises me to see DS2 at least without multiplayer. It made use of Gamespy, and last I checked a few months ago, some people were still in the lobby playing.

The fact it uses gamespy and it's being released on Steam is likely the exact reason it's been stripped out.

To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't worry too much about the expansions. Legends of Aranna was a short, bland campaign that best served to add extra content to the main game if you started a new game in said main game. The Broken World expansion for DS2 is worth investing in if you can get it to work with the Steam version of DS2. The reagent recipe system (which goes beyond the normal "enchanting items with reagents" system by allowing you to create unique and set items with the right combinations of reagents) and unique and set items it adds, along with the tying up of lots of loose ends makes it all worthwhile. The ending is much more "final" than the ending in the base DS2 game. The added "hybrid" classes give you more reason to spread your skill points around, and a race that was absent for the whole of the base campaign finally shows up.

When you get ahold of a copy of Dungeon Siege 1, look up a community module called "Copperhead - Retaliation". It's done by Derek Warner, of Rainbow Six: Vegas, MAG, SOCOM: Combined Assault and SOCOM 4 fame.

Borderlands uses Gamespy and it's still on Steam.

Ah, well I stand corrected. I don't use Steam, I just assumed Valve didn't like sharing its pie:)

Well, Gamespy doesn't sell games. They're just a client used for multiplayer and stuff.

Besides, Steam sells games that require other accounts like Games For Windows and EA Accounts... It's not that weird.
