Psyringe: GOG has little reason to regionalize codes since they aren't terribly fond of regionalized pricing in the first place, they do it because publishers wouldn't sell new high-profile titles on GOG otherwise. It is highly unlikely that GOG goes out of their way to make a perfect, watertight & bulletproof regionalization system - their goal is to please the publishers enough to get permitted to distribute their titles, and publishers have in the past been satisfied by solutions that did not require regionalized codes.

It's unlikely that we'll here anything specific from GOG about this though. Any official statements could make them look bad from the perspective of the publishers that they want to make happy. They could also put the focus on details that the publishers currently may not be aware of (or care about).

Personally, I expect that no draconian measures (like regionalized codes) will be put in place unless there's either massive exploitation of the then-existing system, or if the publishers suddenly pay enough attention to these particular details that they demand stricter separation of regions from GOG.

Just speculating though, of course.

Pheace: Depends how many Russian versions start getting sold. If half of the sales for AOW3 from GOG turn out to be $17 RU copies, that'll probably raise some concerns.
Indeed and even more so if the publishers discover people buying gifts here and selling them to people in other regions. Since GOG apparently has no ability to say no, I'm not sure how much they could do about it.

A part of me suspects that GOG may wind up enacting this sort of thing just to stir the pot a bit more than they already have. It's a long shot, but it's a more plausible explanation for the thoroughly incompetent response to the rebellion than they were trying to stop the revolt.
