Anyone remember the Dune PC games? Just looked it up and the last Dune game was made in 2001. I think there is enough of a fan base for the setting, and possibly a new generation to interest, for a new game. I'd love to see what they could do with today's technology.

A Fallout style RPG set on Arrakis would be awesome. Or maybe Dune Emperor 2. Anyone got any other ideas?
It would be great to see another Dune game. I wonder if rights/licensing have been a reason for the drought.
It would be awesome if we did no doubt about it even a bad one, i would think it would be more likely after a (shudder) remake of dune though

There are quite a few dune mods out there though for things like civilization and oblivion but not very advanced i'm sure.
i hope there is another dune game someday, unless it ends up getting "dungeon-keeper'ed" in the process
The Herbert family seems to have an insanely inflated idea of what the license is worth, so I doubt it.
I tried to get Herbert Props to talk to GOG and EA. Dunno what will happen. :P

If we do, I hope they improve the sonic tanks!

I looked forward to them for several levels. I finally built one and was eager to see what it could do! It made the sand wiggle a little bit, and then some crappy Ordos 3-wheeler shot me to crap. Sonic tanks, bah.

there is one from 2007 i think. it was pretty bad.

as dune is licensed game i presume its a bit hard to get it approved to be published here. I really want to play Dune 1 (as dune 2 i played quiet a lot at school)
and discworld games too,
i think it would definitely be possible if the rights holders saw that there was a lot of demand. i think it would help to post on the page that tfishell linked-to above.

Even though no game will ever come close to Cryo's Dune, i would love an Emperor 2, still have that one installed on all my computers just for some multiplayer fun :p
I don't think a fallout-style game would be that good though...we don't know much from other planets, even in the books, and Arrakis is basically a gigantic desert x)

I've kind of lost hope after that big fail though:

I tried to keep up with the books, honestly, but the super long timeline sort of threw me, 30,000+ years is a lot to digest.

That was shot down hard~!
*gog contacts EA
*EA says "Herbert Properties would have to approach us first."

Guess its a "who approachs whom first gets the smaller cut" situation I bet.
I wouldn't count on it. Unless there is a movie or something big going on with the franchise.

You only need to read Dune, Dune Messiah, Children of Dune, and God Emperor of Dune (Messiah is pretty mediocre by itself, but necessary for Children).
Heretics of Dune and Chapterhouse: Dune are interesting, but not that great. Especially when compared to Children, which is, in my opinion, the best of the novels.

Stay clear of the books written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. They make the Star Wars prequels look like Oscar-material.

Since you mentioned it.
So true. :´(
