It should only work for very young kids, you learn about quadratic equations in school at 15-16 years old, I'd guess. Though to expect 2 solutions (counting multiplicities) in the general case, they would have to know complex numbers, which might be learned about a bit later or not at all.

(Not to mention that you did not specify the domain for x and the three parameters *gasp*)

Ok.. so now that I have slept, woken up, did my daily jobs and finally had a look again. They are still there. This means what happened actually happened and it was not a midnight rave after too much work and late-night Internet surfing. I really did not want to abuse your kindness, Dischord, and that was why I offered a choice of two games I adore (both from the top of my wishlist on GOG), but which are at least on different price levels (10 USD can be too much, so I thought may be 6 would be easier). And you know what? I ended up with both! This is truly awesome. Thanks, Dischord, your kindness really means a lot to me and I know I am going to enjoy these for a long time to come.
