Folks, I'd love to hear your feedback on this: which version of W2 is the best deal? Steam vs GOG vs Polish retail version? I love Steam as I have most of my games there so I like it for convenience. GOG on the other hand has some extra features and earlier access than Steam due to pre-loading. Finally, Polish retail version from gram.pl has the secret merchant DLC and of course is in Polish whereas Steam and GOG is in English. To be fair Tomek Gop confirmed that I'll be able to download Polish localization for every version of the game if it already doesn't have it installed.

Appreciate your thoughts :)

One thing you didn't mention was that the GOG version is also DRM-free. The others have SecuROM. For a lot of people that makes the GOG version most attractive.

If you get it on GOG you can still launch it through Steam, if that makes you feel better. Just add it to your Steam programs list and launch it through the Steam client. The in-game community features and such should still work fine.
I'd say GOG, but then again I'm a GOG-user on the GOG-forums so I'm probably biased. :P Honestly though, if you don't care about having a physical copy and they're the same price I'd go for GOG, as it's not like you'll need to use another client instead of steam to run it, you'll just skip the step of starting steam to start the game, you should be able to download the language packs with any version, and personally I'm not sure on the worth of the dlc merchant: from what I understand it's just a merchant that sells items that you normally have to do a quest for, and so unless you can't do without certain items I'd just do the quest...

That's just my opinion though, different things will obviously be weighted in value differently for you. :)

Yes, as far as i know every version has every language, also GOG version doesn't have SecuROM.
Wouldn't shipping from Poland to Canada take ages?

I will go for the GOG version, due to the lack of DRM.
Thanks for the insight guys. Think I'll give GOG a try. Shipping the game from Poland will indeed take ages...

As for the avatar I already tried it. Point to a file, I see the path but nothing happens. Maybe Ein7 issue?
I really wish I could get the physical version and just use a code in it to activate it on steam or gog so I wouldnt have to worry about the securerom on the disk, that annoyed the hell out of me when I got dragon age 2 at launch since I went to a midnight launch and the securerom prevented me from playing it when I got home

Im really torn about which edition to get, I love physical stuff and this has allot but I also like having my games attached to my steam account and the achievements but the totaly drm free gog version is really appealing too
So if the GOG version is missing a bit of launch dlc maybe we dont get "the most complete" copy of the game...

I want the Collector's Edition goodies (the physical ones from the retail edition), but I'm not paying for SecuROM (pretty pissed off about it being int he retail versions), so it's the GOG version for me.
If the Steam version really has SecuROM, I'll skip it.
I'd be surprised if the Steam version got SecuROM, frankly, since that would contradict the previous conference announcement.
So, on May 10th I might be tempted to get W1 here even though I have it already LOL and W2 also appears to be a done deal given the goodies. Speaking of the goodies, which one of the bonus RPGs would you recommend? Not familiar with any of them. If only they were games like Betrayal at Krondor or Eye of the Beholder series now these take me back ;)

Good point. I'd like to know if GOG version will have DLC from CE? (or other). GOG, please clarify this.
