Verizon has changed their broadband internet access AUP, and it's laughably ridiculous.
How is this even possible? Can they stop you from using their Internet because you like to post pictures of cats on a SERIOUS BUSINESS place like a forum? As for social networking sites, isn't EVERYTHING put up there totally bullshit anyway? And how the hell will they enforce this?
I hope it's not a precedent or anything. It's too goddamn retarded to be one, anyway.

Not surprising. Just one more example of how while you are paying for the service the ISP in fact looks after the companies. It's just reaffirming what we all know. Customers have no rights.

ISPs like to be able to cut off customers at any time if they want to do so, so it's hardly surprising to find overly broad clauses or clauses almost certain to be violated in their AUPs. They really should just drop the bullshit and condense the AUP to "Your service may be terminated if you do something we don't like or otherwise get on our bad side, or if we just feel like being dicks."

Agreed. There's a certain "F" word that I would use but won't because anyone who disagrees will right away claim victory because of Godwin's Law even though this "F" word applies. All I can do is laugh at things like this AUP and hope that there are enough other people laughing along with me so it becomes too difficult to enforce.

It's not for enforcement, it's for excuses when they decide to terminate your service for whatever reason. Say they don't like you using the maximum bandwidth they provide, they just search your posts for off topic information and cancel your account.

But isn't bandwith caps another part of the AUP that's already been defined?

Doesn't mean they want you to come anywhere close to reaching it on a regular basis
