This kind of reminds me of that moronic studio from the UK who made that awful Hydrophobia game on XBL

Then when it came out and it sucked, many equally moronic "reviewers" gave the game a "decent or good" score, some reviewers though told the truth about this game and that is sucks and so - gave it a bad score (like destructoid for example)

The developers then (who are complete wankers) then actually said that the reviews were "unfair" and that those that gave the game a bad score "did not play it properly"

the "review" system in general today is broken, especially for videogames

HoneyBakedHam: Many people think professional means what you think it means, and with all due respect, it does not.

bansama: When money is at stake, that's exactly what it means. Time to throw out those internet dictionaries, mate ;)
I gave my neighbor's kid $10 to wash my car. Is he a professional car washer?

The colloquial definition you stated is wrong... A correct definition incorporates income as a main source of one's livelihood, not merely getting some scratch in exchange for an odd job or two.

But just to make sure, I'll drag out the OED tomorrow when I'm on campus.

"Campus" sounds like some sort of fungus.. I always though that word was a bit off. Campus.. A fungus milkshake..

Anyway, Crazy chick. I'll pass on the book, the blog and READING, in general, for the rest of the day. I'm heading off to school. :)

He's professional enough for you to determine that the quality of his work was worth 10 dollars. If you don't believe that to be professional then perhaps you shouldn't pay for it.

Then the developers cut the shit out, actually summed up the good points and bad points an then proceeded to patch the game. They acted immature to begin with, but took it on the chin as time went on and actually tried to improve their game based on reviews. Naturally, review scores in general went up.

The main beef people have with them is that they insisted constantly that there were "no problems" with their game when it got bad reviews and THEN they took the points and notes from the negative reviews to "improve" the game
If the book has half the drama from all that discussion then it must be awesome :))

Pretty much what Bioware are doing now with Dragon Age 2. It remains to be seen what they will do in the future because a lot of the problems are with design and not easily patched.
After reading through a fair portion of that first link, and seeing her attitude and generally poor writing ability, I have to think that her editor(s) should be eligible for sainthood.

She doesn't have an editor that's the problem. One of the good things about Kindle is people can self publish books and sell them directly via Amazon. The trouble is some, like this lady don't bother to proof-read their work so buyer be ware in these cases.

StingingVelvet: Oh I know, I'm just saying without the internet as a quick and instant outlet for her frustration she probably would not have fucked things up that badly. The 'net creates an instant and completely public soundbox.
She was trying to use the internet to launch her career. Had she demonstrated a modicum of restraint then she could have done just that. All thanks to the internet.

HoneyBakedHam: OMG!

She has a blog...
http://jacquelinehowett.blogspot.com/

So if you want to find out about her grammar skills... there it is.

She's functionally illiterate.
Even her "legalese" is bad:

"All images on sight are copyright and cannot be used without permission"

I think I should find a way to use a bunch of her images then claim ignorance of any copyright infringement based on the fact that she never actually says you can't use the images from her (web)site.

She's not all there.

Instead of just pointing out the fact there's a superior copy available and that a re-review is warranted, she gets ultra defensive and tries to make the blogger look like an idiot. What's her problem?

Since she seems to see writing as her main occupation (two current books, one on the way), and she gets paid (allegedly) for it, that would seem to be professional.
