Man, it's sooo hard to distribute points among such good entries. But I'll give it my best shot:

One (1) point: RaggieRags (I guess we all did something similar when we were kids, thanks for sharing that)

And an apology to GoJays2025 for not giving him any points. Your story wasn't bad, far from it, but I wanted to keep a system where the first two got the most points, and so had to cut someone out. Just enjoyed the others more, that's all.

It was actually my first attempt at a darker story so I'm immensely happy that someone enjoyed it.

As for distributing points, I think I'll wait with that until I actually find some time to read all the entries ^^.

Are we even going to get enough votes to call this fair? :-( I voted for myself just because I thought there would be other people voting and the entrants would vote for themselves, and it turned out I was the only one doing it. I wouldn't want to ask for any prize for voting myself.

Doesn't look like it. I haven't been very active in promoting the thread during the last week, which could be a contributing factor. I haven't voted either, for some reason.

I could either extend voting two weeks and try to keep the thread on the front page in the hope of getting more votes, or simply do a random draw.

It was exam mayhem for the last couple of weeks (maybe that's got something to do with the less-than-expected turnout?) so I took the advantage of the longer voting period.

I can never choose, but I guess (if the votes end up counting) I'd go with:
3 points for myself (so Reggie doesn't feel bad;), 2 points for GoJays for the squirrel-perspective (really nicely written I thought) and 2 for Reggie for the fun Manhole Memories (I'm a sucker for Cyan).

I've been sick the last few days (actually, I still am), else I'd probably have bumped this myself and cast my own vote.

It's such a bummer when people don't vote. I don't want to have to vote for or against myself! :(

And sorry for not having voted yet. I'm still trying to muster the strength to read all of that (refer back to when I said I really dislike reading, please). It's a long weekend for me though, so I'll try to get it done in the next day or two.

It's simple, really. Most people don't have the time or the energy to vote for something simply because. At times when you require that the person who is voting spend more than a few minutes reading or something similar, I'd advise putting some kind of prize to make their effort at least worth the chance of winning by a random draw. Like, say, take one of the prizes that would otherwise have gone to the contest winner and put it up for the voters, then make it mandatory that no one with contest entry can vote, or isn't eligible for the second prize. That way you'll at least in the future get some more traction on the contest.
