I read both the original run of First Class (with the awesome book end shorts of lesbian comic artist Colleen Coover) and the continuation with a different team. It was a completely awesome set of new stories with the original four X-Men, and occasional Marvel buddy showing up for good times.

I'm really looking forward to this movie. Same name, nearly completely different tone, setting, and cast of X-men, but setting up the birth of mutants against the backdrop of the Cuban Missile Crisis is pretty sweet.

I'm thinking this is going to be the best X-Men movie yet. Actually it looks like it might be a good movie period, because except for Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Kelsey Grammer, the other three were complete shit.
I don't read comics and the third movie as well as that Wolverine movie were terrible, but I just want to say X2 was a fucking awesome movie and calling it shit is pretty silly.

I thought X-Men was ok. Stupid story but it established the characters and that's all you need really. Second movie was great the third was complete shit.
I'm hoping First Class will be good, especially after the last two crap movies. I enjoyed the first two, especially X2.

I hate the third movie as well. It's okay if you want to hype Wolverine, since he is everyone's favorite X-men (not mine, though). It's okay if you want to have more romance between Wolverine and Jean Grey. But it's not okay to kill Cyclops just because you have actor dispute in real life. It is not okay to kill Xavier too (although apparently he did not really die).

Indeed he didn't, it's that bloody Marvel trick of leaving the last bit until after 10 minutes of credits!

Incidentally, I saw Thor today, they do the same thing, but it's really quite important to watch (the cinema staff actually told us not to leave till after the credits).

That was the point most fans started frothing at the mouth. Eric and Charles were always friends that's the whole point of X-Men really. Two friends with opposite ideologies. X-Men 3 threw that out the window because in the real X-Men world Magneto would have done everything in his power to save Charles.

which when faced with Pheonix / Jean Grey, would be not much power.

Irrelevant. Magneto would still try to save him. Also Magneto may be nothing compared to Phoenix but in the movie she was still learning her powers. Magneto could have crushed her easily with the amount of metal that was around.
