Hi I bought a new xbox360 like 2 weeks ago. My question is I heard some people say to buy a fan cooler for the back of the xbox360. This way it has better chance for it not to get broken or burned out,. The cooler fan cools off the xbox to run better? Is this true? I also heard that these coolers break the xbox360 from other people.

Do I need a xbox fan cooler? And which one is good.

But isn't the newer boxes slightly more reliable now? Do you still need additional coolers for that?

The ones which plug directly into the back of the xbox's power outlet and run off the 360's power supply are warranty voiding and can ruin your system possibly. The newer ones run off their own power plug/cord and don't void the warranty, afaik.

You don't need them never have tbh, the people who claim you do put them with all the vents covered with carpet on the bottom... seriously as long as you thought of it as a device that needed cooling it was always fine (my release xbox lasted me till last year when I upgraded to a slim after a DVD swapout the actual system was still fine)
Now if you plan to block up all the vents the fan is going to be no use anyway add to that the fact they actually mess up the incase airflow and many of them are actually liabilities to the functioning of your xbox.
