Just been posting a length response debunking some ....(I'll be polite) misunderstood concepts regarding the 9/11 disaster/attacks, and came across the "You're post is too lengthy" message.
[also a grammar error : Your {possessive} =! You're/You are {state of being} ;) ]

I split my response, and tried posting the second half separately, but the pop-up reply form would only "Add to or Edit your reply". I couldn't edit the URL in the window to remove the "&act=add" part from the end, to try to generate a new reply.

What's going on here, Gog!? Perhaps a function to disable adding to already long posts, and start a new post would help (tick box?) something?
Haylp! please.

Edit : Also, I seem to remember a thread specifically for "bugs" like this, but search failed in the 6 pages of results for "Forum Bugs"....although it did find a good few separate threads. Anyone got a link to it?

I've never seen a forum that didn't have some form of post word count limit.
If you wait a while you can make a second post under your first providing someone else doesn't post inbetween. There just seems to be some sort of time limit in place between trying to merge your posts thus the post length limit stopping you from being able to do so and creating a brand new post under your other one.
Hmm, yeah, did that, and almost lost the part I had to split off (thank the stars for Form History!).

Just damned inconvenient to wait, or wait for someone else to reply :\

Cheers.

Hmm, anonymous users can no longer post, can they?
There was a while when people (including me) logged out, made a "breaker" post anonymously, then logged back in to post the rest.

Also, I believe the "append" limit is ten minutes, so if no one has posted et that point, you can go ahead and post again.

Lone3wolf: "You're post is too lengthy"
Couldn't you just summarise? Something like "No, ya feckin eejit!"?

Nope, that'd be well above my pay-grade, and I'd probably mess something up :P
