For a game to still have a player base after 8 years, the true strength and versatility of Bioware's Aurora engine and capabilities of the associated Toolset have enabled persistent world (think MMO on a smaller scale, but free to play!) developers to bring their own stories to life through custom content and scripting. There are even persistent worlds such as Higher Ground that read more have gone above and beyond the game's original functionality to bring new features and gameplay mechanics to the game.
If you're looking for a great single player experience, it will become apparent by going through these reviews that the so-called "vanilla NWN" does not have much to offer. Instead, look to the custom single player modules, or to the online persistent worlds where players share in the adventure together! Where dungeon masters and developers have spent hours, months, or years crafting an immersing and engaging game world for you to explore! Players of all dispositions are certain to find something to entertain them, from the hardcore role player, to the casual hack and slasher, to the competitive arena warrior!
If you're a D&D buff, or like many NWN players simply enjoy a great custom RPG experience, there is no better offer out there for the content available, both directly through this download and from all of the user created custom content over the years that can be downloaded for FREE! Gathering your dice and figurines around the table to play out your latest adventure has now transformed into gathering your computers up for a LAN party or making new friends by venturing into the many online game worlds!
As an aside, it has been reported that the CD Key that comes with this download will not work online; follow this link and select "multiplayer key request" under "I have a problem with:", after purchasing Neverwinter Nights so that it can be selected as the Game Title:
