Not trolling just genuinely currious. Am I the only person that sees needing a unique multiplayer key as still having DRM?

Is there some obvious way around this I don't know?

I don't really care cause I don't play multiplayer, but it just feels wrong.
It can't be helped. The game had DRM when it was released and as part of that DRM the matching server used by multiplayer on gamespy included a check for redundant CD keys. No amount of reprogramming the game can change that. The game is no longer supported by Bioware or Atari, so this will not change.
I only ever played multiplayer for a couple hours, so I didn't realize the servers apparently used your keys for more than just authentication so I see how it's not too easy to take them out.

It still feels kinda sad the way this game is infected with DRM though. It didn't stop me buying 3 copies including one here, but it's still sad.
Getting a unique CD key for multiplayer from gog.com is easy. Just fill out a certain support form (the link is right there on the "game card" page for NWN Diamond) and they're email it to you (without extra charge). You change out the keys in an .ini file, and you're good to go.

Many online servers, such as mine, use the unique CD keys as a server-side method of account security, since EA/BioWare shut down the Master Server (used for account authentication). It keeps potential unfriendly types from logging in with your username and messing with your character(s).

But can you ask for more than one multiplayer key if you want to play with your wife or something? I bought the game 3 times (not from GOG yet.) However I consider that a sore point. I wouldn't have if I didn't have other reasons to particularly support the product. (Yey Linux Native, and great game)
The removal of the DRM from the game does not negate the EULA. GoG might be willing to send you a new key if you told them you had lost the old one, but they certainly couldn't legally do so if you announced an intention to use it to distribute the game to another player in overt violation of the Terms of Service. If you want your wife to have an independent install you'll need to have two copies of the game.

As I said I already do (3 actually). Still the complete lack of 'spawn' versions since the 90s is somewhat disheartening.
Yes, I read your post. I was simply responding to your question:

The answer to that question is "no" for reasons that I've already explained.

It's easy to use your existing CD keys on a GoG install, if that's what you want to do. Just modify your cdkey.ini file in notepad, and make sure you save it as a .ini file (the filename must be cdkey.ini, not cdkey.txt or cdkey.ini.txt).

Backup the original file in case you mess it up.
