Installed DirectX as instructed in troubleshooting. Still will not load up (past initial options tab)

Have also tried running as administrator, this gets to opening sequence graphics (atari logo, guy walking around in woods) but whenever a button is pushed it crashes out with following message:

Neverwinter Nights has stopped working
A Problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Does it lock up every time? I had the same problem as you, even when I first ran it as administrator. However, after trying to run the game a few more times (as administrator), I was able to get it to work. Do you have "Disable Visual Themes" checked under the Compatibility tab?

Try editing your NWN.ini file in notepad. You will find a line that says safemovies=0. Set this to safemovies=1. Make sure you save it as an ini file and not a .txt.
