I love all the GOG thing but the stuff that is going on with NWN is ridiculous for me. This game is incomplete, its bugged and almost unplayable on vista without searching the net and looking gor fixes. This is totally against GOG policy "download install play the best version there is" And there;s totally no feedback from GOG team. I really dont like this.

care to explain what you had to search the net for and download? If you talking about the critical rebuild patch, which is all you really need(and it will still run fine without it), there are plenty of links around these forums.

Also, you should know that if your trying to play pretty much any old game on Vista there will be problems, and unless you know much about computers, a few internet searches will be required.

You must remember that GoG does not have the source code for the games they sell, therefore they can't reprogram every one to work with every version of every operating system. They do their best given what they have.

Also, these forums are for support as well. GoG is not a large company, and they therefore can not answer ever question as fast as you want, especially during the holidays. If you come to the forums and ask your questions you will usually be answered very fast.
I don't want to bitch around, I know how much GOG is doing and I love em for that but this is slightly below the company standards. I know how troublesome Vista is but thats exactly why GOG is supposed to be - to NOT have problems.

Even after a patch I've got bunch of issues like unskipable intro or no cutscenes, I know there are solution for that but THAT WASNT THE POINT OF GOG.

I;m not talking about feedback to my post, there are couple of people here who were writing to the support without any answer.

Part of that is also on the publisher (I'm looking at you, Atari) for failing to completely patching the game when they licensed it to GOG. they can only do so much GOG can do because of how big and complicated NWN is.
No. GOG promises the game works on Vista so it really should work. Atari does not promise the game to work on Vista, they promise it works on 98 and XP. Getting old games and making them work on new systems is what GOG is all about.

In NWN's case, the game as bought from shop (I have the original and 2 sequels on CD) works with VIsta (after applying all the patches, which are to be expected in a really old game) and the official patches also remove DRM. I also bought GOG version because I don't want to fumble with CD keys and a pile of install CDs and patches in the future. I just want to install and play.

There seem to be a few fixes that need to be searched out and applied.

Either this is a) trivial, and GOG has no excuse for not applying the fixes,
or b) it is really complicated to get the game working, and GOG should either roll their sleeves or pull the game.

I fully expect the GOG stuff is just super busy right now and the problems will be fixed before long. But in the mean time there's no reason to pretend there's no problem to begin with.

yes, that is true, but in many cases these are isolated incidents that just have to do with one individuals computer. I for one had zero problems installing the gog version on 7 and Vista(other than the critical rebuild, which I agree they should include, but its really REALLY simple to find and install). You can't expect a company to fix every small problem for every individuals computer. There are an infinite number of things that could be different about each persons computer, and finding a way to fix each would be impossible.
I have to agree that the game should come patched, I bought one copy for myself and one for my friend, both of us have had problems with the critical rebuild, it says that "You cannot use this patch with your current install of Neverwinter Nights". My friend only got it working through downloading a complete install from Pirate Bay but I have a very slow internet connection and don't want to download ANOTHER two gigs just to be able to play my game.

Make sure you download the rebuild for the DIAMOND edition. It worked for me.
But I can't understand why it isn't already patched.
I think the disc version of the diamond edition also needed to be patched, which would explain why the gog version does not include the patch, as not everything can be slipstreemed.
Actually the version that shipped on the Diamond DVD was slightly borked and you had to run the critical rebuild on the disk before you could patch it. *knows because she has the Diamond edition DVD*

Well, that sucks, but as we see, this versions needs it too.
Got a reply from GOG
Sweet, knew they'd come through sooner or later.

Hello,

Incidentally, we went over this with the rest of the team earlier today and the updated installer has been uploaded already. It may take until tomorrow for it to be propagated across our file hosting provider's servers, though.

Sorry it took so long.

Regards,
Peter

Good job!
This is good news!

It would be great if they added some sort of 'Last Updated' section on the download page or send an automatic email to just us know that the game has been updated.

We've been asking for a feature like that from the very beginning. They just won't do it.
