So after some finagling, I finally got NWN Diamond working perfectly on my Windows 7 laptop. Now that the game is working again, I'm hankering for some more classes and PrCs, since the stock ones pretty much suck. (I was playing a Sorcerer, and it didn't take me long to remember that they get NO class features after first-level, just more spells.)

So I came across two "must-have" packs for NWN - the Player Resource Consortium and the Community Expansion Pack. But after wrestling with the game so long to get it running I'm deathly afraid to install anything else that might break it.

Has anyone here installed these on the GoG version of NWN Diamond yet? Is there anything special I need to know to get them to play well together? Do I even need them both, or just one? Am I being paranoid?

The CEP changes nothing in the actual stock game unless you open the game modules in the toolset and add the resources yourself. So you can go ahead and install the CEP without worries. It will kick in when you're playing on a server or playing a community made module that requires it.

As for the PRC, I can't say as I've not used it on my install on my Win7 rig. I really don't think it will muck up your install, but you may want to wait for more replies before pulling the trigger.

*edit* Check This Thread. I pointed out the PRC to someone about a month ago and from his response it seems he got it working with the GOG version without issues. But I don't know if he's on Win7 or not.

Haks and Tlks will have no impact on any module that doesn't USE those resources. Go ahead and install those until you're blue in the face and the worst thing that will happen is they won't work, but this won't break your game. You just won't be able to play modules that use those assets.

Overrides actually override in game resources. This can be a little more problematic, but even in the unlikely event that they "break" something these assets can easily be deleted. As a rule if you're using overrides it's best to keep a few older folders as backups.
