I completed the tutorial and Bevil comes and tells me the village is under attack and to grab my equipment from the chest. Theres only one problem. Theres nothing in the bloody chest. How am I supposed to defend the village without any equipment?
Ok, so I looked up the console commands to give myself a weapon and turned on debug mode. I typed in giveitem nw_swsrp001 to get a rapier and it spits out an error message that it failed to create item. It does this no matter what code I put in. I'm just boned I guess. Great game design by Obsidian. I can see why it didn't do as well as the first.

This... is odd. Are you sure you understand the inventory system? Are you looking in the right place? Have you restarted the game to see if it is a constant thing?

I have started multiple characters and never had this problem. IT is very odd.
I did a search on the problem and apparantly they didn't update the original campaign when they added later classes to the game in expansions. So if you pick a class that was added later on it won't know what weapon to give you and wont give you one at all. : / It's not that big a deal really. I just went ahead to see what would happen and in the next room were three dwarves with three different common types of weapons. One of which was a short sword my swashbuckler could use.

Are you sure you got the correct item code ?

Besides, to give yourself items through console, all you have to do is enable Debug Mode , Right-Click on your character , type "giveitem <code> #" where # is the quantity of the item you wish to get.

What class are you using? I would like to try that.
I'm using a half-drow swashbuckler.

Same thing happened to me too. Like you said, it does not actually matter since you will get an other in the next room from the dwarves but still it is funny that they forgot to add new classes in the OC. Well, go Obsidian, living up to their reputation.
Yeah I was a bit angrier about it that I should have been at the time. But I wasn't aware of the other weapons literally feet away. Everything worked out at least.
