Alright, so I hadn't played NWN in a bit, and I decided I'd like to do a campaign run with some friends. I install it fine, patch it with the 1.69 critical rebuild, and that's when the issues began. It will boot, but the game has to be going at 1 fps. Takes forever to click anything, when you see the swirling cloud stuff it's literally going frame by frame, and when you get IN game it's unplayable, plus EVERY time I close it, it tells me the game stopped working. I tried messing with compatibility, the cpu affinity, administration mode, no sound, no shiny water (even though my machine is capable of running Dragon Age on max settings), etc. None of that worked, so I tried updating my drivers as it's been a while, and the game won't even work anymore. I can get it to boot every 1 out of 10 times, and then the second you alt tab, hit a menu, or do something in game, it crashes. I've since then reverted back the update, and now I'm back to 1 fps mode. Any solutions? :/ Oh, if it matters, the gpu is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330.

I don't think the problem is Vista. Vista reports some problems with NWN but that's not what this sounds like. It sounds like there's a compatibility issue with your ATI graphics card, but I'm not an expert. I haven't bought a decent GPU since I was married.

Have you tried rolling back to Direct-X 9?
Do you even have DirectX 9 installed? NWN will not run without it... and DirectX10 doesn't replace DirectX 9.
Thanks for the replies, but it doesn't matter anymore; the ram failed on my laptop, so it's now a paper weight.
