I have a cleric equipped with a long sword and a shield and it keeps telling me that I am attacking with my shield hand at -10. I just want to use my left hand to defend with a shield.

How can I disable off-hand attacks?

This really sounds like a glitch. Do you have any mods installed? What feats does your character have? Can you post a screen shot of the feedback during battle that shows this?

How is it telling you that you are attacking with your shield?
Unless you have installed an override( mod), I do not see this happening.

-10 to attack sounds more like you are using a power attack.

Power Attack is only a -5 penalty. Good thought though. Perhaps he's using PA and Expertise combined or Improved Expertise.

Aha, how about Improved Power Attack? That's a -10 penalty.

I installed the PRC mod pack and I am playing a custom race Asabi and tit may be a "monstrous humanoid" trait.

As far as I can tell it does not create any penalties, I just get an extra attack at -10!

It even happens when my guy is using a shield or a long bow.

Maybe he should take off that helmet to reduce the penalty? ;-)
