He wont' get out of walking mode no matter what I do!

I'm assuming you tried hitting caps lock?

It might be shift, but I'm pretty sure it's caps lock that switches between walk and run. Just making sure you tried that.

EDIT: Patch 1.2 also adds some DLC items into your inventory. It's possible that it overencumbered you. Have you checked your carry weight?
