Raye: In chapter 3, the Order of the Flaming Rose will react differently depending on the faction you chose as well. If you sided against them, stay well clear. :p

revial: Well, the guide may say to stay clear, but in reality all they do is talk dirty to you (not that kind of dirty!) and grouse about what you did. None of them actually attacked me.
i wasn't going on the guide, I haven't looked at the guide at all. I was going on the fact that they attacked me on sight.

player1fanatic: I'm curious.
For those that imported the save with Adda alive, how it changes end game in 3rd chapter on pro-Roche playthough.

I mean, Radovid is still married with Adda then. RIght? In what way is bastard daughter important then?
Henselt and other people say that they wont follow a possible Striga queen (curse might be returning since it did once why not a second time) and something that she is queen of Redania

About the import i had no orens that transfered in my game , well maybe 100 orens and some crap swords that were the best in Witcher 1 one from the hunt master (not sure about the name) and i think from the blacksmith where Alvin teleported himself one gave +1 insta kill and the other was less good than a basic longsword but had a runeslot for silver sword i got the one given by the lady of the lake but it was not real good was not expecting overpowered items but maybe a little better than what i got.

The book from Flotsam told me i killed the Striga when the curse came back and also did in my journal until maybe Henselt telling me that he would not accept a Striga Queen and answering him i lifted the curse again

I had not killed Siegfried(sp?) in my neutral playtrough but in act 2 on Roche path some guy attacks me because i killed him and some people in act 3 telling me i killed him too
So to sum up what I have seen or read :

- if Adda is alive or not -> small dialogue changes

- the chosen path (with an unpleasant bug, the game assuming neutral <=> Siegfried killed)
-> Order path : no issue with the order in the third act and we meet Siegfried.
-> Neutral and Scoia'tael :
if we chose Iorveth we can't get through the front door in Loc Muine
If we chose Roche, we have to kill an angry knight in the second act.
-> Scoia'tael path : some dialogues changes with Iorverth.

- if Thaler is alive -> if alive, he sends us a package and a message.

- if we killed the king of the wild hunt -> small dialogue changes

- some stuff (raven's armor, aerondight, a steel sword) and gold

Hi guys

Are you sure, that there aren't any other things?
Like whether you choose Triss/Shani.
Killed Berengar or let him go?
Saved Abigail or not?

Basically, story wise, your import has no real effect. The W1 was obviously not made with any intentions of taking your save and applying it to a future game by virtue of how and when it made a save, and it's obvious this was sort of tacked on to W2, probably because the big RPG elephant (*cough* Bioware *cough*) has almost single handedly made it an expectation for rpg gamers.

That said, the way W2 does your last save implies that this time around CPR fully intends to make your save mean something for import into future games. Plus, this time around, the game was very different based on your choices. I loved W1 to death, but let's be real, your decisions were pretty superficial in it. :p
The imported save doesn't affect the game THAT much, it is just details...
Raven's armor
The silver sword you had equipped at the time
Sigfried cameo
mentioning of Adda at different stages (Foltgest, to Shilard during the seige, Radovid, etc)

.. that's off the top of my head.

As for how choices work this time around, it is very different in W1, where your choices lean you towards either pro-elf, pro-Order, neutral, whereas W2 is either this path or that path.

Vroum: - if Thaler is alive -> if alive, he sends us a package and a message.
If he is dead he still sends the packge XD

It was cool to meet Siegfried in Loc Muinn and the questions about if he still hunts cockatrices. Nice touch.

For what I read no meeting with Yaevinn if you went with elves in TW1?
What is the default story beside Adda's death, anyone tried or know?.
Hmm. I was going to ask this question myself and thought better of it, but then I found this thread. I've yet to start the Witcher 2 because I'm working on the first one again so I can import my save, but what I've read — that it makes very little difference and is potentially bugged, so much that it renders your previous actions meaningless — leads me to think I should forget the save and just start playing the sequel, because chapter IV (where I am right now in the Witcher) is boooooring. (Note to the developers: running through grass for hours on end is NOT fun.)

So much great potential gone to waste, but I suppose we're talking about a niche market of players who genuinely want to see the story of Geralt fleshed out, as opposed to playing a "sequel" that has no meaningful (to the player) basis on the original. If what you do in the first game doesn't matter, then nothing in the first game should come up in the second (see also Gothic II, where Piranha did an excellent job referencing the first game without importing any saves; I really felt like I was meeting up with old friends).

Personally, I love the continuity of Mass Effect; it adds replay value to the series and ensures fans will pick up the next one to see the results of their (our) ongoing choices. I hope CD Project makes a big deal of this in the Witcher 3, especially if they intend to finish the series with it. Anyway, thanks for the replies. Since I'm almost done with the first game, I'll finish up and import my save, but I won't expect much unless patch 1.2 comes out and fixes this stuff before I start the sequel, fingers crossed.

I chose Shani but TW2 doesn't even mention her, so nope.

Didn't even remotely see anything about Berengar or Abigail, I suppose they weren't big plot elements.

One thing to consider, with Adda in particular given the events at the end of the game, is that while no, it doesn't make a huge impact aside from some dialogue choices, that choice is still saved in TW2's data if you chose to save or kill her (possibly other characters as well, like Siegfried or Yaevin) since it does mention them. It may have a larger effect in 3, so I'd still get the playthrough with 1 that you want, just incase. I get the impression importing was simply a bit of a late addition and they initially wrote the story to be more neutral regarding your choices. That, or (as with Mass Effect and the Kaidan/Ashley decision) they write it in such a way that the characters did not appear (much) to save on voice acting costs (and character design/modelling) and disk space for things that half the players would never see.

If the latter, it raises questions about how 3 will be handled because there are quite a few important characters that could either live or die. And even with characters that are guaranteed to live, lots of alternate dialogue lines regarding the characters that may have died, or rather large changes in the political landscape. Though by all accounts TW2 is doing really well, so maybe they'll have enough money for all the extra dialog... disk space is trickier.

The autosave at end this time around at least opens the prospect that they planned for an import into W3 with the difference choices you made.

I think it's obvious when they made W1, they never intended for your choices to matter beyond that game.
Yeah, I never really expected to see most of the characters like Abigail etc. show up. As far as i was concerned, those were local events and unless i went seeking those characters, I'd have no reason to encounter them. But Adda is a somewhat special case, given the political nature of the story.
