Is purchasing books in the Witcher 2 necessary? For some reason the books seem highly irrelevant compared to the first Witcher? The reason I ask this is because my eyes can not stand the light text on dark background in the menu. Therefore I try to avoid as much reading the game menu as possible. PLEASE Cd Projekt make s patch to make dark text on a light colored background for the menu.

It's not as necessary as the first game, but there are a handful of books that give extremely useful information on killing monsters, and a series of books in act III that make an impossible contract quest possible.
