I am in the prologue, and where i am told to open the gate, it does not say it is a clickable object. i have made sure all the men are dead, i do have the key, i get the gloves, i have even reloaded numerous times and nothing works, how do i fix this?

The gate itself is not what you open. Go back through the door that you came in from and there should be another door that was locked but now that you have the key you can open the door. Inside that room is a wooden crank wheel that will open the gate. Hope this is what you were meaning.
