I've decided to buy the Collector's edition and preordered it from Amazon (living in the US).
On the day of the release the game came as expected. Unfortunately, the black tray had cracked completely on 3 sides, the statue was scratched and there was 1 die missing from the dice poker set. What, really?!
Thankfully, Amazon has a good RMA system and I ask for a replacement thinking that the initial try was an unfortunate mishap. The replacement came today and poor Geralt has a broken nose in his second marble "incarnation" that reaches me, plus multiple visible scratches. I should really post a picture of two very sad looking Geralts.
Come on... Couldn't someone think that shipping these in a little bubble wrap would be such an exquisite idea? What's with the worse than egg carton black cardboard?
Aside from the artbook, which I am sure many fans will want to get (through collector's editions or other means), what is the point if the statue is scratched if not broken and dice have a chance of missing?
Not sure who's responsible, but for such a deal they should be ashamed. The price was steep and you don't expect not one but two (!) editions to have so many problems.
I'm wondering if I should return them both... And, amusing to many of you, what I really wanted was the dice set.
P.S.: Haven't started the game yet -- bad work week. Hope to give it a try though in the coming weekend.
