zteman: I feel sorry for people that do enjoy DA2. I think its either their first ever RPG or they have no concept of what an RPG is. But lets not extrapolate and argue the definition of an RPG either. Been in those discussions and it goes nowhere and someone will say basically every game is an RPG.

While you're thinking you're acting mature and then calling some your junior basically puts you in the same league, junior.

Back to DA2, the game does have some positives because they did have highly skilled people working on it, but the whole big picture execution of piecing it all together and the decisions where to skimp out was HORRID. All the negatives completely wash out what it has going well. This game was so horrible that I cannot complete it to end to see the ending.

LordRikerQ: The only real problem with DA 2 is they got really lazy with content and dungeon sets. Thats it, other then that it is a good RPG, and I've been playing RPGs since Ultima and Might and Magic, so its not my first. The only people whining are the same morons who throw hissy fits they got rid of Isometric View. Like Isometric view is really an important part of an RPG
Agreed for the most part - about the dungeon recycling being the biggest problem w/ DA2.
But, I really wanted the extra Isometric camera the to stay.

I must say, though - DA2's special option to even sort anything to Junk category for the later on one-click "store all Junk" and "Sell all Items" to the merchant has spoiled me for most RPG's, though.

I wish Witcher 2 had a Junk category and also had a place to store stuff.

I'm going to advise you to pipe down junior. You're in the same league as himself.

That's fine if you intend to "...feel sorry for people that do enjoy DA2. I think its either their first ever RPG or they have no concept of what an RPG is."

Yet, learn to keep that nonsense to yourself, junior. You're speaking out your arse.

Your personal attacks/sarcasm are amusing me at this point. I will continue to call you junior as well since you obviously have the mindset of someone young or very immature regardless of age.

Beer-Marinated Flank Steak with Aji & Guacamole

2 1 1/3-pound flank steaks
1 tablespoon dried oregano
2 teaspoons ground cumin
Coarse kosher salt
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
11/4 cups thinly sliced green onions (about 6)
1 12-ounce bottle dark beer
1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
Aji Sauce (see below)
Guacamole (see below)

Preparation

Using sharp knife, lightly score flank steaks about 1/8 inch deep on both sides in a crisscross pattern at 1/2-inch intervals. Place steaks in 13x9x2-inch glass baking dish. Sprinkle steaks on both sides with oregano and cumin and generous amount of coarse salt and freshly ground pepper. Drizzle olive oil over both sides of steaks, rubbing oil and spices into meat. Add green onions, beer, and Worcestershire sauce, turning steaks several times to coat both sides. Cover and chill at least 3 hours, turning occasionally. DO AHEAD: Can be made 1 day ahead. Keep chilled.

Prepare barbecue (medium-high heat). Brush grill rack lightly with oil. Grill steaks to desired doneness, 3 to 4 minutes total per side for medium-rare, turning steaks 1/4 turn after 1 1/2 minutes to form crisscross grill marks, if desired. Transfer steaks to cutting board; let rest 5 minutes. Thinly slice steaks across grain. Transfer to platter and serve with Aji Sauce and Colombian Guacamole.

Aji Sauce

1/2 cup coarsely chopped seeded jalapeño chiles (about 4 large)
1/2 cup coarsely chopped green onions (about 2 large)
1/3 cup coarsely chopped sweet onion (such as Maui or Vidalia)
1/4 cup coarsely chopped fresh cilantro
2 tablespoons (or more) red wine vinegar or fresh lime juice
3/4 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Combine jalapeño chiles, green onions, sweet onion, and cilantro in processor; puree until paste forms, scraping down sides of bowl with rubber spatula several times. Add 2 tablespoons vinegar and process until mixture is blended but some texture still remains. Transfer to small bowl. Stir in 3/4 teaspoon coarse salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper, and more vinegar to taste, if desired. DO AHEAD: Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate.

Guacamole

1 large ripe avocado (12 to 13 ounces), peeled, pitted, coarsely chopped
3 tablespoons coarsely chopped fresh cilantro
3 tablespoons coarsely chopped green onion or sweet onion (such as Maui or Vidalia)
2 tablespoons chopped serrano chiles with seeds
1/4 cup (or more) water
2 1/2 tablespoons (or more) fresh lime juice
Coarse kosher salt

Combine avocado, cilantro, green onion, and serrano chiles in processor. Puree until smooth. Add 1/4 cup water and 21/2 tablespoons lime juice and process to blend. Add more water to avocado mixture by tablespoonfuls if needed and blend until thick sauce forms.

Transfer to small bowl; season to taste with coarse salt and pepper and more lime juice, if desired. Cover and chill.
I tend to avoid even opening a thread like this. But, sometimes I can't resist.

And now I am compelled to check them for Revial's delicious recipes!

Is that an Aged flank steak?

Frankly, you could substitute any cut and be fine. :p

I have a somewhat sorry butcher selection where I live, and I think the aged flank steaks are far too thin, as that's not really my thing, but obviously mileage will vary on your own butcher availability and tastes.

I'm gladly you're easily amused and take things personally since none of my comments were really aimed at you but whatever you think ...

I'll add another reason why someone may like DA2 --

People that likes DA2 are likely to be immature or unsophisticated ( you can interpret that in however way you want). That's my opinion. If you (by that, I mean anyone) feel its a personal attack on you, I pity the fool.
I remember back in the day when flank steak was considered a crap cut much like chuck, That said I liked it back then anyway.

Skoltnik: dragon age 2 was fun.

Snarfinator: Agreed, it was fun, it also was a huge let down, but I still was able to enjoy it.
exactly my thoughts.

I did enjoy DA2, and as an older gamer with a long-running preference for RPGs, I know exactly what they are and how good they can be. Dark Sun, Daggerfall, Baldur's Gate, Ultima, I've seen a load of them.

I recognise that DA2 has flaws, however I can see what they were trying to do and the game really had potential, but unfortunately Bioware was under extreme pressure from the Devil of the gaming industry, EA.

People also need to realise that companies can't keep releasing "old school" RPGs. The games industry and the gamers they cater to are changing and evolving. Games need to do the same. As games reach a wider audience, they have to become more versatile and varied - this is why we are seeing the fusion of genres: action/RPG, RPG elements in FPS, adventure elements in FPS, and so on. In order to appeal to enough people to make money, they need to address a number of interests.

DA2 was an unfortunate victim of an industry that is growing so rapidly, that competition is killing off creativity and attention-to-detail. Eventually, I think the industry will find an equilibrium - as the industry growth slows down, the higher quality titles will have time to rise to the top.

The Witcher 2 is one of those rare titles of such exceptional quality, it rises to the top regardless of the state of the industry. That is one of the advantages that a progressive developer like CD Projekt has over the (currently) more commercial studios like Bioware. They don't have someone breathing down their neck telling them to release something "as stated in the contract".

I enjoyed DA2. I like the universe and the story, but it has its flaws, some very big ones too. It is because of this that it simply does not compete with the Witcher 2, but then again, not many games do.

The Witcher 2, simply put, is exceptional in all regards. Like Half-Life 2, Planescape: Torment, Sam 'n' Max Hit the Road or Command & Conquer, I think this game will, in time, come to define the genre and forever stand as one of the untouchable heavyweights that sets a benchmark for all other titles.

Bioware used to be a company that could pull off a game like this. Let's hope they find their way back. But, more importantly, let's hope that CD Projekt doesn't take the same path. Their support and understanding of the gaming community, particularly older gamers, is second-to-none.

That's my two cents.
Dragon Age 2 is a good game. However, its a victim of its own fame because they rushed the game too much thus resulting to "area spam" if you know what I mean.

Dragon Age 2 has a very slow start too, aside from the main motivation you get this crap done so you can go with us to the Deep Roads, suddenly you are faced with a shallow chapter one crap like loss and further loss as you progress.

Three months have passed and I haven't finished it because its really boring.
Dragon age 2 was shit don't fool yourself.
The Bioware forums are hilarious when it comes to The Witcher 2. They basically say that The Witcher 2 is nothing more then a low budget indie game that all of 5 people will buy, that it is not a AAA game like Dragon Age 2 and Fable 3, and no one in the industry even recognizes it as anything other then an indie game. When it comes time to nominate for RPG of the Yeah, The Witcher 2 won't even be nominated because the industry won't even know about this 'small low budge indie game'.

Yes, those contards at Bioware are delusional. Don't know if The Witcher 2 will win RPG of the year, but Dragon Age 2 I know for sure will not.
DA2 is not good at all, I don't know why they wanted to reinvent the wheel instead of just taking DA1 and improving.

The story was terrible. It is really anti climatic to be the top champion so soon in the game and then you're just questing because there's simply not much else to do as the champ.

Running through the exact same area over a dozen times is the worst, especially since years have gone by and not a single thing changed in the world.

The Witcher 2 simply did common sense stuff that Bioware no longer have. Take a great game and just make it even better. Can you imagine if this game turned out to be like DA2 and the story is just simply you've figured everything out so now you're just a Witcher doing monster quests? Or even worst, playing the entire game in flotsam going back and forth in the same areas over and over.

I am on my second play through atm with Witcher 2. I finished DA2 once and tried to replay it but found it simply too boring. I couldn't even get past the prologue.
