Hi, is there any way to change the difficulty from the savegame file? Or any other way? I changed the difficulty to insane, and I kept playing for some hours ... and then I died. I used quicksave and it saved properly, so I had no idea about this final death thing until I tried to reload the save.

I just want to make sure if there's a way ... before I redo all those hours. :(

The entire point of insane is that you can't reload a save. I think there is no way to reload them, even hex editing.

yeah ... too bad I didn't realise that until after I died. What buggers me, though, is that the saves and all the info is there, but they're just blocked.

there's gotta be some pro dude here, who knows something ... :p
There is a way. Someone else wanted to reload their save in insane mode. Try searching for "insane" on the forum. I don't think it will be hard to find. They figured it out.

Found the link. Hope this helps. http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/witcher_2_insane_save_restore/?search=insane

If you changed the difficulty to Insane at some point, you can reload the saves/autosaves before you changed it. But if you change again to Insane and save, you cannot reload the new Insane save even if you're not dead, (like restarting the session the next day), because it will be flagged for the whole run. So either reload a non-Insane save or restart to have Insane saves unflagged and don't die.

You can esc/reload before you die. Cheap trick but WTH, Diablo 2 Hardcore has Esc/Exit so... =)

I saw once someone found a game script code that if you play a bit with it you can make the game leave you saves as they are on insane mode... but why?! the whole point in insane is that you die once... if you beat it you are a f****** pro. I would also say you to recover the save if the dragon flip killed you!! The scariest thing that could ever be XDD just imagine a guy beating the game and the dragon flip kills him... the next day: CDPR studios are on fire O_o

can't you make a physical copy? or are you guys saying if I switch it to insane and die. even the saves before the switch gets flag and becomes unusable?

no, you can load the saves you made before switching.

filthymcnasty: thanks, I'm trying that program now. Hope it works.
Me too. Let us know if it works. Good luck.
ooo well, it found some Witcher stuff, but it wasn't saves I think, and they were a few days old either way. Thanks anyway. :)

I guess I'll have to replay from the last usable save. Meh. :P

Like I said, you can load the saves made at any difficulty other than Insane but if you switch to Insane and save at Insane, the Insane save will be flagged and you cannot load it. So if want to continue an Insane run after you die, make sure you switch diff back to Hard or whatever, before you save and exit the game as you cannot continue from the last Insane diff save. (unless you restart from scratch.)
hmm, I would think that switching out of insane = no no. easy to get in but impossible to get out :PPP I seriously thought if you switch all your related saves will get flag also.

with the current system, I can save before the chap 3 boss and make a save with copies and switch to insane to try to beat the game without fear of starting over again. since the save will stay in the hard mode.

that really defeats the purpose although I do understand where people is coming from :P
