I have wondered for a while now, but have not managed to get any info anywhere on how to read notes and books that Geralt picks up in TW2... How can I read these quest items etc? I don't see any commands in my inventory that allow me to do that, or am I missing something?

You double click on em in your inventory

Press J to open Journal, read them there.

But you do have to double-click Books and Notes to make them appear in Journal.
