hello everyone, just a simple question:
after 1.3 , what's the easiest way to make money in chapter 1 ? I've done all the quests , can I just play dices and armwrestilng non-stop?

Farm nekkers. I was suprised how much blokes are offering for their mere entrails.

I second this. The alchemical ingredients they drop are surprisingly valuable to the town's merchants. Arm-wrestling is a good source of income as well, but I'm not sure which is most time-efficient. Dice Poker you can just ignore; it's too random, and you can never bet any higher sums than 10 orens.

My follow-up question is - what are people spending money on that they need to be "rich" ? So far I've not found myself short on money or ingredients.

Picking every alchemical ingredient you come across and selling them helps as well; and if you want to be unscrupulous, just loot every container you find and sell that.

I think the only way to run out of money is to use crafting a lot. If you really try to make every new armor or weapon that you see a diagram for, it can get expensive. You have to buy the diagram (usually), often buy some components (most notably silver ore for crafting silver swords) and then pay to actually craft the item. Also, I'm finding that especially at the end of the game, you will run across something better to craft very qucikly. I find myself saying "man, I JUST crafted a new sword and now there's an even better one?" a lot.

However, crafting is usually completely optional, and you'll find plenty of items as well. So if it's not something you want to bother with, you'll probably never really have any cash problems. Also, if you show some restraint and don't craft EVERY single thing, then you'll still have enough money, even if you're not overflowing with cash.

Buying books in the earlier chapters can be a bit expensive too, especially if you're also crafting items. But I was usually able to earn enough to buy all the books I wanted.

Thanks. Perhaps it is just because I'm a long time gamer but I've not seen any sense in crafting every single thing. We don't get to use much and we seem to have access to new patterns / equipment fairly often. I'm still only in chapter 1 and already see this. heh

So far I've made the Superior sword, some potions and now the Kraytan (sp?) armour.

I usually sell Lesser Mutagens as I usually have better ones. There is one guy in Flotsom that goes up to 100 Orens in arm wrestling and I think you can wrestle him again after youhave beaten him ( Sendler )

Not with patch 1.3. Al least they say that they fixed the wrestling exploit. They also say that they fixed the oil on silver bug but I haven't found oil working until now (tried with brown oil for bleeding, but didn't do a thing so far, more testing required).

Are you talking about the same person? I thought the person they fixed was Bartholomew Bargee in Lobinden.

EDIT: Or maybe coastie didn't mean Sendler, because that's the dice poker guy. Still, I remember winning 200 from BB--is there someone else that you can exploit for the money?

Haven't had a lot of time to play since installing the patch. : P Penguin Overlord was right. I screwed up as it was Bargee. Sendler was the final Dice poker guy. Right now I have a bit over 1400 Orens, but the way I shop it won't last long. : )
