YOU HEARD ME ITS IMPOSSIBLE

I had to use a online video walthrough myself after 3+ hours of failure!

And that was on easy mode so your not alone Psy, its a terribly designed encounter with no forshadowing of what needs to happen!


So below is a walk through (SPOILER ALERT) for you!

Before combat drink the mongoose potion (I like to add Swallow And Tawny Cat as well)

In combat

Focus on the far left 2 tenticales, they rather easy to trap unlike the center ones (which can be caught but with much aggrevation)

Once you destroyed the far left ones, goto far right and kill 3rd tenticale

(Please note, after destroying a tenticale run to the back end of wall and stand there, Kayran cant reach you while it thrashs about)

when the 3rd tenticale is done and youve taken the ride on a remaining tentical it will smash the bridge

Once that has happened, run to far left side bhind the rumble and up the stone bridge portion

Then all you need to do is reach the Kayran and Geralt will pull out a miraculas bomb you dont have in inventory and blow up the Kayran finishing the encounter.

Actually very easy once you see it done and understand the encounter!

THIS IS A PATERN/REFLEXE ENCOUNTER, like all combat in this game, dont over think it (hell dont think at all) just follow the patern, dodge the incoming stuff best you can, and you will win!

Hope this helps you out, I was sooooo fustrated with this encounter I almost quit game entirely.

And dont feel bad you didnt figure it out, most didnt either (regardless what they might claim). It wasnt presented very well at all

I figured it out immediately and killed it on my 3rd attempt (normal difficulty). I'm not sure why you have such a hard time believing this.

I have to agree that this boss has some very poor gameplay design. Its not obvious what you should do and things that should make sense doesn't because the formula is unyielding. However, once you figure it out, its not remotely as bad but the experience still remains a negative one.

While riding on the tentacle, I keep on press the mouse button until the bar is full. Somehow, I still get my smashed against the wall (bridge?) and fell to my death. I hate those pattern/key press combo as I don't really like to use a controller.

Try doing it on hard, with 10 fps.

I figured out what you're suppose to do after my second death, lol, when I heard the woman call out "Use Yrrden!".

With boss fights like this, if you don't know what to do, it's best to play with survival on mind; not defeating the enemy. If you live long enough, the game gives you hints on what to do.

How the hell do you get on the tenticle? .....been at it for 4 hours now. Kill 4 of them then nothing.Saw a Youtube clip were he kills 3 then gets on the tenticle.
BTW. Tried with just killing 3 about 10 times....just can't get that ride.... (

I hate myself? Lol, not that bad playing on my 5450 mobilty radeon. It's playable, but laggy and has a bit of a delay.

You get on the tentacle by pressing a button when it swipes at you. Stay on the very edge, near the cliffs, put on Queen, and wait till it swipes at you.

Thanks....was missing the quick mouse click as the tenticle swings at you after killing 3 of them. Now i can't get out lol ....where's the bloody exit?

The game doesn't hold your hand on this encounter. I died quite a lot too, but it certainly didn't take me an hour lol

Sile tells you to use Yrden and you naturally use rolls to dodge the tentacles...watch it as it gets ready to strike and then roll

The qte took a little bit to get used to and the last part was crucial too but if you take what you learned in each death and applied it, it shouldn't take you long to win Kayran will do a sweep after 3 of tentacles are lopped off, when the sweep gets close, a mouse click msg will show up (kinda small tho) and you right click and go for the ride

Killed him easy once i realized about the mouse click to ride the tenticle. got my 2 levels up and now can't get out of the zone. been running around for over an hour looking for a way out /sigh.

Adding my video of the combat as I type here. It's not that hard at all. And it's pretty fast too. Once you figure out what to do, that is. I needed some 8 attempts to figure it out, that biatch over the hill keeps yealling at you what to do. Of course, normal diff as it's my first playthrough.

This guy posted a very clean battle. Didn't even got hurt, i think. But mine looks better as it is during the night and somehow my old GForce 9600 GT 512MB delivers amazingly for an underspec video card!
