Hey im wondering how can i reduce the amount of video card activity when im playing the witcher 2.

Which ever setting i choose, whether its low medium or very hight my Video card has 100% activity on it. This is causing it to heat up very quickly and use 100% fan speed all the time, something that is very loud and i assume not good for the fan.

I've encountered this problem before when games where set to use 120+FPS, however with vertical sync on this should limit it to 60 fps. Is there an .ini file somewhere that i can manually set a top FPS?

Im using an ATi 4870x2 with 2gb of vram.

Thanks.
It's because the game is very demanding, even on low settings. However, that card you have shouldn't go all the way up t 100% all the time at low settings.

Try a FPS limiter and limit the FPS at different stages to see a difference, keep the same settings for the test. Do one for 120, 60 and 30. Remember VSync limits FPS so keep that off.

As a FPS limiter I use MSI Afterburner but I found this on the forum but I couldn't find the thread: http://www.mediafire.com/?prlw7a5n7kvd9eg

Put the files in the game directory and choose the amount in the config file. I think you should keep that renderahead to 2, apparently it's suppose to help to fix a common stutter problem as well (otherwise change to 3, that's default on every game for both Nvidia and ATI).

If it's still 100% something is wrong. I would try with a different game to see that there's not an issue on your computer.
