Bluehammer: Ah ha! Sorted it!

Being a quest item I erroneously thought it would automatically be put it in the ingredient slot, but it didn't it placed some freaky green foetus thing in it's place. The Ostmurk was sitting to the right of the recipe wheel (which I never noticed until now - it allows you to swap out similar ingredients). Swapped it out, bought some Aether and Bob's your uncle. So not broken, just not as obvious as I was expecting.

For those with the original problem, once I made the potion the quest text went back to the original 'Find Sile or Ostmurk', so you don't need the potion to do the quest.

And todays lesson is 'Hover the mouse over everything' ;)
I was getting a bit confused too. Thank you. :P

Have fun!
Is the mongoose potion any use for anything else, as you can still make more if you have the right alchemical ingredients... it does give a ridiculously OP buff...

It ONLY adds poison resistance. So, Golden Oriole would be superior, I think.

No other poison effect is as massive as the Kayran. Most poison attacks are short duration too.

txcforever: As the title suggests, I came around a pretty serious glitch/bug on act 1, specifically in the Kayran-Ostmurk quest, where I need to get ostmurk from the cave behind the waterfall. The problem is that I picked the herb earlier in the game and now it doesn't reappear making this quest impossible to finish.

Is there a way to complete this quest? Can I just ignore it and continue or the fight with the Kayran would be too hard to win? Is there no other place to get ostmurk?
I've played through to this point a few times now for various reasons and it does disappear from the inventory. When - I can't really tell. It just disappears. As others have said you can get through without it as long as you make some before you get to the Kayran. I've got so many bottles of the stuff now I could sell them on ebay. Not sure it'll make any difference when I get to fight this thing though! Think I need a new mouse or a PC!
